Re: Josh Dowling Designs
That's some funky stuff, Josh. What are the dimensions on that last one? 20 x 6"1 x 2/9/16 ........I'm 6"4...... 15.5 tail & nose . Started off being a Nano type Tomo variant ended up pretty much a V4 Round nose. Interesting ride so far. Some aspects compared to a shorty are good and others certain...

Re: The Tomo rip-off ride report
I guess all I'm really trying to make sure of is I get the dims just right , as something so far removed from HPSB and somewhat unknown could easily turn into a "dog" of a board if made too long or wide given the unique design principles. Probably just safe going with Tomo's suggestions and just dec...

Re: The Tomo rip-off ride report
Sounds about right. A good question too - how many litres of volume do you usually ride in your HPSB? Have a look at the volumes of the different firewire vanguards on the website to cross reference. What sort of waves are we talking about too? Are you going to use it for small waves or as a replac...

Re: The Tomo rip-off ride report
So my normal shorty at 6"4 ( I'm 6"4 tall ) comes in at 34litres which is pretty spot on. Does the take 6-8 inches off that apply in your experience ? And if shaving 2 litres off your volume is do able in this shape , is it best to achieve the reduction in just width , thickness or shaving it off a...

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
None of the UK companies are now willing to ship the big 4 brands to Oz , I have been in touch with 3 majors this last week and no luck with any . On the bright side E-bay is now being flooded with UK and USA wetsuits and some at real good prices but shipping costs are being charged. Still managed t...

Re: Ask Carroll
re AI, I guess also there's some personal taste involved, he surfed the way I'd always wanted to surf and could ever have imagined surfing. Plus he had Kelly's nuts in a vice. Which however you want to look at it, was a good thing. I think it was good because I get a bit weary of all the "Kelly's a...

Re: The Tomo rip-off ride report
Thanks lads for the info.
Would the Vanguard with the nose rounded off ( ala like Tomo uses in that vid ) Pinhead provided ?
Or would this not work with the designed entry concaves and lift promoting contours happening up front on the Vanguard ??

Re: The Tomo rip-off ride report
For those that are experimenting with this shape, hows these things go in mediocre surf , stuff with not allot of push , or real short section(y) type surf like your everyday beachie ??? All the footage is at long walling points with rippers tearing it to pieces , and I've never seen any avg punter...

Re: Fin size vs surfer weight
So when we refer to a "wide tail" , are we talking a wide tail proportionally to the rest
of the board or putting a figure on it ............. say anything over 15.5 " at the 12" mark as an example ??

Re: Josh Dowling Designs
Yeah Legion - I'll have no excuses now. There's a function which causes the phone to tazer me if I start ad-libbing on dims. DV8's newy will be the first one to go out with the chip all dialled up with data. The Kaos - 6'2 x 20 3/4 x 2 1/2. (But you just never know....) Bump squash. JD :-? Can we c...

Ric , I got them sent over from the States , not a cheap exercise with customs charges but get a few

Set up is a little G1000 centre fin and some Shapers SMF-Large in the sides . Plenty of drive and good release for the wide tail.
