Re: Get this!
Looks great Roy! Any chance of some smaller cut-away side fins being made in FCS? The board I have in mind is a 5'9 twinzer that is currently riding Shapers BA-Xtra in the small lead fins. They are 2.9" depth, 3" base, small side-bites normally made for 2+1's. I reckon one of those cutaway side fins...

Re: Get this!
I reckon number 30 and those super upright D shaped ones (pictured above already made with tubercules) would be the money set for quads. Get them in similar fin area and dimensions to the FCS K2.1 and you're laughing (now called the FCS V2 I think). Looking forward to seeing the results of the exper...

Re: RS BBQ Syd Dec 13 Sat - Longy then SurryHills/CBD/InnerW
I'll come for a wave! and a beer in newtown!
Hang on, I'm confused. It sounds like these are two separate events. Saturday longreef surf and BBQ, and sunday spray in the pub in Newtown?

Re: Volume
I think that volume calculator is rubbish. Leave it up to the shaper, because volume is only one part of the package. Rocker, planshape, volume distribution, etc. can all affect paddling too. Volume affects two things as well, it affects paddling from A to B, and it also affects lift while surfing. ...

If you want something wild I'll part with my 5'6" vanguard. Its only 29L but it'll feel closer to 32L.

Re: Displacement hull boards
A mate of mine rides a backyard shaped displacement hull around 7'. Its the full long straight outline, super flat rocker, blade like rails, domed bottom the whole way up, huge flexy Greenough style single fin, pulls in quite a bit at the tail. He loves the thing. I've watched him surf it quite a bi...

Re: Sense of place
Man I love Bali. As much as it has been overrun by tourism and drunk Australian's making beasts of themselves. The Balinese people are such warm-hearted and spiritual people, the temples and art of many kinds all around. The surfing is a small thing in Bali for me. When you can get waves without hun...

Re: post your modern day sickness
Yeh the trick seems to be the type of rail he uses to compliment the extreme lift and the rail rocker used. The Mermaid model I have just has the most beautiful back end rocker as an example and the rail he uses helps control the lift. Possibly the best small wave board I have ever ridden. The Metr...

Re: post your modern day sickness
MC is not into using volume measure for his boards but it would prob be around 26 Litres or so. There is a fair bit of width nose to tail. I'm 73kg and could go less foam. These boards cover so much ground you can ride them a bit smaller. Still a bit small for me, but thanks mate. I've always been ...

Re: Get this!
Roy, a friend of mine surfs a modern adaptation of MP's famous cutty board. Its around 5'9" x 20" x 2 3/4" with modern bottom and foil. Looks very similar in planshape to the old MP board. Its one of Mark Pridmores MP3's. What size and foil shape single fin in your range would you recommend him to t...

Beer won't test it fully, you need to sit in the urinal after it flushes. That'll test the seams for seepage.

Re: Midlengths
I have a mid-length made by our own Mark Pridmore. It was a wedding present from my good friends. Its around 7'0 x 20" x 2 1/2" with a stinger and twinzer +1 fin set-up. Its basically the front end of a mal with a slight pulled in nose like a tracker, but two thirds down a 1" flier cuts the rail-lin...
