Re: princess margaret river pro

Fair point Brainwave. I think round 1 can be hit and miss sometimes. I quite often enjoy it but agree that the intensity is much better in the later heats. Conditions play a part though. I can think of numerous early rounds that were far more entertaining due to better waves.

Re: princess margaret river pro

which naturally gets us back to ... smaller competitive field, 14 day waiting periods, but the comp needs the best 2 and a half forecast days to run in (consecutively). no non-elimation heats and halve the 52 men's heats into 26. Have like a formula one pole position. Each surfer gets 45 minutes to...

Wow. Didn't realise it was that bad, although wasn't expecting it to match conditions further south.

Sunshine Coast

Hi folks,

Never been to the Sunshine Coast. How does it rate in terms of reliable swell, swell size, variety of breaks (beachies, points, reefs, lefts, rights)? And how does it compare to say the Goldy, NSW north coast, NSW south coast?

Cheers

Samsung has flown from the WSL nest

What will this mean for the tour, prize money, Medina's chances of winning another title?
How will we get our fix of Samsung ads?

Re: skateboarding ...

I've heard the opinion that Smoothstars actually teach more bad habits than actually helping technique. I've ridden one a lot and have actually found that I'm often too front footed my top turns when surfing (this could be purely coincidental as I'm quite the klutz but it immediately came to mind), ...

Tips for grom trip?

Trying to suss out suitable locations for a surf trip to take my son on. He's 11 and very independent in the surf now. Does it all himself. Riding a short board. Style/technique is coming along. Basic carves along the face, the odd floater/snap (slow-mo, small waves). Confidently paddles into 3-4 fo...

Most importantly, don't you think the Mayor of Ballina looks like Doc Brown from Back to the Future?

Re: Length over width for volume?

1/4 inch is definitely less noticeable than a whole inch of course. Depends on how much there is to begin with, but every board is different. I recently got a new board (6'0). Went 1/4 inch narrower than my previous board, and found it quite noticeable in terms of stability. It's what I wanted becau...

Re: Length over width for volume?

Generally the default width is the default width for a reason, and is what contributes to its "intended feel". If you're already familiar with that model/design and those dimensions then you could make a confident call to make slight modifications, but otherwise I wouldn't go lopping off an inch of ...
