Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
hI @SALTMAN I foil the keels and glass them myself, they are 50/50 foils set paralell to stringer with 4 degress cant. TThe Duo: I found some nice single fins at shapers which I thought would work well on the duo (7" classics) so it made sense to use fin boxes, I hadnt thought of tweaking the fin po...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
I finally finished off the two fish and have been riding them for a couple of weeks I like the extra buoyancy of the EPS fish and the finished weight difference was about 300grams, so it is quite a bit lighter. the PU/PE version came in at the same weight as the original Steve Lis fish I took the te...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
I finished off shaping two fish on New years eve and laminated the bottom of one on the weekend couple of photos below. Both are based on an original Steve Lis fish I have in my keeping at the moment. One is shaped from a stringerless EPS blank from shapers Australia and the other is a standard Benn...

Re: Bonzer builds
HI Digger
I made a bonzer 5 a while back and scored the side runners from shapers australia, I cant remember what I paid but they were around $20, it might be worth calling in to see if they have any when you drop by burfords for your second blanks.

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
I still need to do a bit to get it finished, I was away for the last week but hope to have it finished by the end of this week. I am going to add FCS plugs for a centre fin and need a leash plug and then sand it all to get it done. will post up a couple of pictures when finished.

Papatura in Solomon Islands
Has anyone been to Papatura Island in the solomons?. I have rolled the dice with a couple of mates for a trip in March next year and was trying to track down a bit more info about the breaks. There is some basic info available through their website but I couldn't find a lot else. If anyone has been ...

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
here is a picture I hope it works, I over complicated it a bit but have included basic instructions on how i did it: 1. find a piece of perspex, cut out a circular hole that matches the diameter of the base of the plug with a mm or two play using a hole saw (one of the standard sizes worked well) 2....

Re: Is anyone backyard shaping any more
hey digger I made my own jig for 4WFS, it is for the under-glass nano pod boxes. it took a bit of frigging around but if you are handy with power tools you could rig one up pretty easily out of a bit of perspex or similar. I will try and dig out a photo. The old style 4WFS boxes can be installed aft...

Re: Scotland
@beerfan, it gets very cold I once trudged across the reef at Thurso east and was crunching through ice on top of the rock pools, the burn can also be fed by snow melt and flows right through the line up. i see more agro in the water in one week on the goldy than I did in three years in scotland, th...

Re: Scotland
the water is brown due to the tannins coming out of the peat into a creek (burn) which flows through Thurso. Here are a couple of other photos from the same day which show a slight variation in the water colour, but it is nearly always brown
