aye, try some different stuff, maybe get a marker and mark some numbered notches on the fin box and then you can start to guage what works where.

Me though, I'm a pivot turner, I use pretty standard dolphin style fins and have the rear of the tip lined up with the back of the board - works for me.

alternatively, not far away from the goldie on the north side of Byron Bay is an industrial area with quite a few high profile shapers/showrooms, some of whom do licenced replications of some of the USA brands like HPD.

Dion do a dolphin in a 9" with a wider base, had one on the Magic Wand Model MkII and it went awesome, especially in regards to what you are looking for...
