Re: Europe in September
Easyjet and Air France fly from Paris to Biarritz. It'll probably cost about £80 return in September - bit more than the train but three hours quicker. Probably what I would do is hire a crappy little camper from these guys https://www.campycamper.com/my-little-campy/?lang=en (150 euros for three days, they're less than a km from the airport so walkable) and then explore around Biarritz. There are plenty of coastal campsites and they won't be busy in September or you can just kip in the beach car parks and use the public toilets. Surf-wise, unless you're unlucky and have a weather system come and sit on you, it's an excellent time. It'll probably be crowded in the obvious places but it's such a massive stretch of coast that you can usually find some peace. South of Biarritz has a much more Basque feel and the coast is a bit more interesting. Yeah, take a suit. 3/2 is fine
Re: Europe in September
my wife is flying over half way through the conference to have a few days alone in paris. when the conference ends we'll have a couple days to spend together. Then she flies home and i'll have a couple of days alone.
I'll do the sightseeing wine drinking swinging stuff with her.
after having a look at wannasurf it doesn't really look like there's really that many good waves in france. most of it seems to be beachies. I'm not going to waste my time surfing beachies when I could be riding a bike around Amsterdam after the finest Sativa the world has to offer.
Looks like i'm about to get my clogs on.

Re: Europe in September
I'd agree with Saltman. I'd keep an eye on the forecast and play it by ear. There are quite a few surfcams to help you make up your mind. The flight from Biarritz to Paris, is a good way to go. There are lots of posts about French travel on the Magic Seaweed forum.
I've surfed in France 5 times, mostly down the SW and most recently September last year. I was told so many good things about September, less crowds, clean conditions and swell. It ranged from flat to 3 x overhead in 10 days and was more crowded than in previous years - like most places. The SW has beachies, points and reefs. A good French beachbreak isn't an average beachbreak.
Either way, Paris, Amsterdam or the SW, all are great places.

Thanks Bob.
Booked an air bnb in amsterdam right in the thick of it.
I'll pack a wetty and if the surf is good i'll cancel the booking and go surfing.

Re: Europe in September
Does anyone know how otway1949 is going? He had is prostatectomy and then was living in Austria in his wife's home town and realsurf hasn't heard anything since.
Re: Europe in September
He's fine. We catch up on FB occasionally.
Actually the other day he tried to change his email and got locked out pending reactivation. Which I fixed for him
So he might check in sometime soon.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.
