No hypothermia?steve shearer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 13, 2017 8:59 pmI swam nude every day I was in Alaska and surfed an old windsurfer in some windswell during winter storms in a springsuit.
was probably 8 or 9 degrees I reckon under the influence of the Kuroshio current. Air temp below zero.
Humboldt county felt the coldest, surfing at the mouth of freshwater lagoons.
I swam in freshwater lakes that were close to freezing. Burned your skin.
But yes Iggs, fcuk that shitt.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
This is its second full winter, holding up just fine
I do tend not to beat the shit out of my wetsuits, wash them all the time in fresh water and cycle them so it's rare for me to wear the same suit twice in a row
worst suit re longevity I've had recently was a Quik 2mm ss steamer, just started falling apart. Eventually the zipper (chest zip) came loose at the base and was impossible to reconnect. So badly made! I like ss steamers and the suit was a good one while it lasted, but fcuken hell.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
throw in air temps around zero and with wind chill the relative temps hovering at minus 5 ... and then we're talking cold.
up here, on the worst, shittest, coldest day ... you can still get by in a 2mm.

Did it work? There could be chilly currents from the lombok straights this time of year.godsavethequeen wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2017 7:01 amOh Christ no, I'm an absolute ponce. Have you forgotten the heated vest?

I was talking to a guy who surfed in New Jersey and Long Island. Now that sounds cold.

Yes it did. Until I fucked it by crossthreading the battery connector with my frozen sausage fingers one icy morning. The Thermalution Surf Series is the one to get apparently. Its $400 price tag mere chickenfeed to a disgusting baby boomerCranked wrote:Did it work? I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.
