Re: Midlengths
Time to fire this thread back to life, I just bought a McCoy...... Only joking! This is a 90 page thread spanning 5 years, it's a real surf midlength chronicle, plenty of good info and boards we shouldn't have sold!
I am having a midlength crisis or as I prefer to think refinement/evolution. I am down to a 2 board quiver for the first time since 1994. I have a 7"2 Lovelace thick Lizzy with a bonzer set up and an 8"1 Gato heroi speed acid. Although I do have an 8ft vouch long fish on order (even though they banned me from their insta).
I have a bit of money tucked away for another investment down the track ...... What are you midlength gentlemen currently riding?

Re: Midlengths
It was all Batoes fault, he spotted a board that looked like a vbowls and we commented. Next thing we re both banned! Ridiculous really, it was like saying a hypto krypto and a Howard Mini look similar in outline or something. Didn't realise hipsters were so sensitive!

I’ve got two.
6”10 x 20 x 2 5/8 mark rabbidge rounded pin double ender planshape with curvy continuous rocker, rolled deck and performance rails, rolled vee-bottom nose to tail, single fin and 2+1 option. It’s essentially a mini-gun, well balanced, neutral and very user friendly. Needs juice, loves hollow waves and handles up to triple overhead. Great fkn board.
7’6 x 21.5 x 2 3/4 mike jolly from piha NZ. Late 90’s mini mal, rounded pin with plenty of rocker, rolled deck and performance rails, single to double concave, glassed in raked tri fin set up. Mostly surf it in knee high to weaker shoulder high stuff, but also goes well in overhead walled up flatter faced waves. Handles steep drops with ease, and likes being turned out on the open face. It’s not just a glide-trim board, it “performs”
HI GSTQ !!!!!!!

Re: Midlengths
Pretty epic Jet, how do decide what to ride? Took the 8'1 single out for a play late this arvo, didn't look much but I had a pleasant surprise. Sat the furthest out and picked the sets off. Got a couple that walled up on the inside and the 8fter felt "loose" lolJET01 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 4:33 pm6’10 x 21 x 2 7/8 Jye Byrnes Crossbreed https://www.jyebyrnessurfboards.com.au/crossbreed-1

I notice they don't advertise them on their website anymore.

Re: Midlengths
Corey graham has an 8’channel bottom single for sale on his site, brand new. Looks fun, I’d love it. I have an 8’2” minimal from him which I use more than any other board.JaM71 wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 8:27 amTime to fire this thread back to life, I just bought a McCoy...... Only joking! Yes I remember that one, looks beautiful..... Irreplaceable now unfortunately. Did you have an outer islands at one point?

Re: Midlengths
It carves like nothing else and will outlast me I think.
Yeah, I had a supermal. Great board, beautifully made but it was definitely made for solid waves. Something I don’t spend a lot of time surfing haha. If it was 9’ instead of 8’ I think I’d have kept it, very refined. They have a high volume “wolf” model, looks very nice, check it out
