Despite a not-so-good forecast the gods still created some good waves if you knew the right time and place
How many kilojoules Cranked?
I've stopped using those crude crass scientific measurements loof. Surfing is an art, its in the spiritual realm, it gives our lives meaning and substance.
Degrees of stoke is what I use now.

It is. It’s a 0.5 degree of stoke at DY today. Truly terrible.

It started out as stoke in his pants, which quickly escalated to stroke in his pants.

Wooo playful lil Lower Trestles this morning, mushy but fun in the 3' range, oddly for a Labor Day weekend there was only maybe 15 people out. Water is 23, warm as it ever gets here. A coupla girl longboarders out, they were getting ready for a pro longboarding contest here next week. This is an amazing contest by the way. It is being backed by a company called Relik, which is owned by a guy from Malibu named Danny Errico. Danny Errico is a Malibu real estate guy made pretty good. His daughter Sole is keen on a career as a pro longboarder, so Danny is going to absolute Town on long boarding in the US. He sponsored an event at Malibu, then decided he wanted one at Lowers and went after the CT's old slot. It cost him $50,000 for the permit, he's putting $150,000 into the event prize money (just as he did at Malibu), and covering all the other costs (setup, judging, webcast, etc). He's like longboarding's very own Ziff.

Oh he is also on to the latest craze at pro contests: the VIP Pass. Both the WSL pool CT and the air contest in Waco are selling VIP access to their events, with all kinds of extras, better food, better seating, Blink-182 etc etc. At Lowers your VIP pass gets you special seating, food, meet-the-athletes, a whole "experience" "curated" by some crew. In hindsight it's amazing how long this has taken to catch on, like VIP passes at pro events till now have basically meant you get a not too great lunch and a bunch of surfers sneering at ya.

as a privileged white male from a well to do area I find it hard to believe that I can't relate to this.

Oh there’s no free lunches at Newport mate.
A Realsurfer recently discovered that by visiting the Ocean Master fish and chip shop. It was probably Beanpole. Anyway he didn’t get away unscathed

Tying up and excluding the public from a prime break so some wealthy real estate agent can make his daughter happy sounds...... not amazing.
It sounds fcucking depressing.
