Nowhere near as bad as people who whistleThud wrote: ↑Thu Apr 12, 2018 3:21 pmI was having one of those shitty surfs today when nothing was coming together. Finally a lovely little 3ftr hit the bank right on key, as I was about to launch I hear this "MINE!!" and this old git proceeded to take off too deep etc..which is cool of course, but the MINE!! really gave me the shits. When he paddles back I asked him if we were playing cricket and calling a for a catch. Mine, fking mine. What a selfish expression.

Actually got a flu shot this morning. Went for a paddle at Bronte this arvo. Hatchie seems a bit touchy about his driving.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I had a weird hustle with someone this morning, not unpleasant.
Dawn patrolled the Pass with my daughter and we had a few, she got some screamers, it was insanely crowded, as per usual.
Last wave we both picked up this little sidewinder that sneaked in under the crowd and were happily trimming along....I turned my head and there was a man standing right beside me, I mean like we were cheek to cheek. It was a really strange, intimate moment.
I said "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't think there was anyone on this wave"
He said "Thats OK"
Then he said "I'm going in"
And I said "me too, do you mind if I keep going on this wave?"
And he said, "That is fine".
We were literally touching rails this whole time, in perfect trim and our faces were very close.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I had one of my weirdest surfs in my life at The Pass. Small, very ordinary. Took the mal out half way to Clarkes. This guy just went out of his way to drop in, snake and generally harass me on every wave. Couldnt peg him as being any particular nationality. It was really strange. On one wave I was taking off....he caught this left peak further down and basically did a gigantic fade that put his board completely under mine going left as I was about to take off. I've basically lived most of my surfing life in crowded conditions but this guy takes the cake.

Sorry dweeb. Nice try. I’ve been surfing over thirty years. Driving has always been a part of it. I’m fine with it.
What’s the point of living walking distance to possibly the worst quality surfing beach in all of Sydney if you’ve gotta leave it to get decent waves anyway.

Don't let that worry you though, Hatchie......you just don't get how fascinated and impressed I am with your dedication.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Reckon with the dozen or so quality waves my travel bagged me today in a two hour session that I’d have caught better waves than the total sum of all surfers that paddled on the ESBs in today’s south groundswell. A Westie got the Bestie

Re: Where did you surf today ?
i rode my pushy down to the north end this arvo softie under arm, after my first day working with a dementia sufferer, former 'bra and beyond charger, who didnt feel like going for a swim at Mahon pool despite the heat, but preferrd to smoke ciggies on the cliffs above. We had coffee and a bacon and egg roll at the cafe nearby, then went back to his place to look at surf mags, some of which featured his son charging pristine pacific cylinders,
I had a ball with a zillion or so, oh maybe thirty, other froffers on a sweet right hander breaking on a bank about the size of my studio.
lots of drop ins, rail collides, snakes and mostly ewe!'s.
stoked.
It took my mind off of the suffering his wife and family are going through.
Not sure what we'll do next week though.
I know what I'll do afterwards.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
After looking out for the dog yesterday and noticing the swell breaking sideways on the reefs I went and had a look at the beach down the street and a mate and his son had just gotten out surfing a ripping 4ft east groundswell. Unfortunately the wind was coming up from the west so I bolted to a protected point with the swell coming straight in, surfed it on my lonesome for a couple of hours, real good fun waves and just what i needed, love these swells when they come as the are never forcast
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Took the bonzer out for the 1st time in a while in some ultra-clean chest high beachies. Magic board.
And boardies and vest for the dawnie in mid-April, i think our planet is doomed.

Woo hoo...nice conditions today. Yeah, crazy for this time of year though. More like the Nth Coast than Sydney.
