Re: Fish
Ran the tape measure over the fish today after I bought a 5'8 hybrid bag that the board only just got into.
Bloke said board was 5'8 x 21 x 2.25.
Board is 5'9 x 21.25 x I reckon 2.75.
I don't really give a shit because I love it. Would like to know the truth just in case it gets stolen or damaged in a random car accident. (Not a pessimist, it lives in my car and I'm on the road shedloads. )

Re: Fish
Very rarely does one complain about getting more foam than less. That happened with a board of mine once, 2 3/4 ended up pushing 3 inches on the calipers. *Still love it.
* not that flash a surfer just ok. Never met the shaper, think it was just a fuck up or he couldn't be bothered mowing the foam.

Re: Fish
Bought this board second-hand off ebay last week: http://sunhousesurf.tumblr.com/post/972 ... yback-1050
My first fish, my first twinnie. Bloody terrified that I'm just going to massively kook out. Can't wait, though. Could be swell this Sunday![happydance :-)(](./images/smilies/happy_dance.gif)

Re: Fish
On the advice of someone who I will hold solely responsible for any failures I have on this board (he knows who he is), I got a set of Akila Aipas.
But seriously, the description of the aipas sounds right, given that the board is meant to be more high-performance than a groveller, and I thought the height might help ease me into the twin fin experience. Haven't had a chance to surf it yet.

How dare you critique my knowledge on a forum - i've told you before, i know everything about surfing. Ever.

They better work, but if not, it's all Jam71's fault! He raves about those fins.

Re: Fish
The aipas are the best set of twin fins for that smoking shred stick staypuft, you ll be stoked.
If not, sell them to Batoes for a small profit & try my second favs: AMT's.

Re: Fish
lol. I'd have to talk him into getting a new board first. Shouldn't be hard.JaM71 wrote:The aipas are the best set of twin fins for that smoking shred stick staypuft, you ll be stoked.

I'll post when I get the chance to take it out. Hopefully this week.
Re: Fish
I listen to the firewire podcast and got a heads up about this board before it made the website. They seem to lag behind a bit on a lot of their new models.Beerfan wrote:Somehow ended up watching rasta then Asher then Ryan burch in a YouTube binge after seeing FireWire are doing a fish. Fkukked now. Noticed surfblanks do machine shaped fish, short wide but not too thick as well. Double fkukked
Soon as I heard about it, I remember telling myself.... wait 12months.... one'll turn up second hand.... 5'9 should do me i reckon, although might not have enough foam in it. 5'11 will be too long.
Great looking boards though.

Re: Fish
Yeah I like the look of them. 5'9" is 20 3/8 X 2 9/16. I'm 90kg and while I like them short ( I'm 5'9" ) that might be a bit skinny lol. The surfblanks machined fish are the opposite, a 5'6" is 22" X 2 5/8. Id like somewhere in between. My jd fish was 5'9" X 21 1/2 X 2 3/4. Lot of board and I think I could have went a little narrower and thinner but Josh's boards can have a little extra foam with no drawbacks.
Asher kills it on a keel fish, so good to watch
