Re: that wetsuit discussion...
did you send it back Salt?
just went and had a look at mine hanging on the line. 6months solid use, slight bit of wear around the chest seam....but hanging in there solid.
Looks like I would easily get another winter out of it.
I guess we'll see how good the customer service is.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
interesting
I got a needs 3/2 steamer last year, moderate use for a few months in SE Qld pulled it back out this winter and seam under shoulder failed after a couple of surfs, I spoke to a mate and same thing has happened to his in the same spot. It seems to be a bit of a pressure point when getting out of the suit that needs (ha ha) reinforcement.
let us know what they say

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
Have a new Quicksilver Performer which I nabbed for 250 usually 500. It's not as flexible or warm as the Psycho 3 and 2 I have had (they are 650 dollar wetsuits) but I just got jack of the seams splitting early. From discussions with multiple shop floor guys the Rip curl E bomb seems to be the best top of the range

A warranty is usually used to try and limit their liability, they are still liable under the Goods and Services Act, "Goods suited to the purpose for which they are sold etc."saltman wrote:Needs Essential Update
LS Spring. 3 months old
Use it 3 times a week
Seams under the shoulder have come apart and letting water in. Will be interesting to see the response as there is no written warranty

i've had a terrible run with o neill suits. bought a psycho 1 steame last winter, seams fell apart in 2-3 weeks. shop replaced it. same thing happened again. they replaced it. winter was pretty much over by then so i put it away. started wearing it again this winter and guess what? it's fccked already.
never buying an o neill suit again.
maybe patagonia next time.

Re: that wetsuit discussion...
Naming a suit 'psycho' is pretty crap too.
Does O'Neill understand the meaning of that word? Not all wetsuit buyers are retarded teenagers and even they were, it is rather poor form.

I bought an O'Neil steamer in 1995 at Mona Vale.
It saw me through 14 years in Sydney, including 2 free repairs by them. Both were cuts (the first from the suck rock at DY). A couplemof years back I converted it to a spring suit and it's my back up for the not so cold days up here. Bit stiff but my arms and legs are free so it doesn't matter.

You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

I have a Patagonia 2mm LS Spring, with the fuzzy green lining. Normally they're silly expensive, but got this one on the rare as hens teeth Surfstitch 30% off sales, which rendered it good value.
Two years out of it so far, with no issues. Seems bombproof. Warm as, sacrifice a tad flexibility.
Back zip too.

I've had a few patagonias over the last five years. They have gotten so much better over time, and their new ones - the yulex - amazing. Heavy to hold, but not to wear. Very flexible and super warm. Anytime i've had an issue with them, they have replaced the old suit with a new one. Can't ask for much more than that.

Think you may have been unlucky phil. Maybe it was just the psycho 1? I've had a few Oneill steamers over the years. RGB8 and psycho 3's from memory. Was my brand of choice for the last 7 years or so and never had an issue, discounting longevity beyond 2 to 3 winters, which seems to be par for the course these days. Chest zips. Went back to ripcurl recently - F bomb with the furry lining acrylic stuff that dries fast. mmmmm so good. Can get 2 surfs a day in winter from one suit and reasonably dry for the second surf after a couple of hours. Don't know if it will last but so far so good.philw wrote:i've had a terrible run with o neill suits. bought a psycho 1 steame last winter, seams fell apart in 2-3 weeks. shop replaced it. same thing happened again. they replaced it. winter was pretty much over by then so i put it away. started wearing it again this winter and guess what? it's fccked already.

Would love to try an F-Bomb but jesus $650.
Was going to get an Oneill super freak a few days ago, they were on sale at Aust$200 online from the Oneill website, but checked yesterday and they are back to normal price $350, too slow.

Second year for my Qsilver. It's really flexible. Only annoying thing is the horizontal flap at the back under the zipper. stoopid design feature.
