Red Bluff dreaming
Hey guys. This year is a big year for me as its my 50th in April. Im thinking of celebrating it at Red Bluff even though I wont be there at the exact date. I sorta had an idea even though Im pretty positive that no one here will really be interested.
How about a informal surf comp/fishing comp/photo comp held over a few days around late March. Anyone interested? All those surf offs that were mentioned last year and this year (that we all knew would never happen though it gave us all a laugh) could be held plus others could just have a dig (that would be me at my age with my back). It would give a chance for anyone to test out that step up board they have been holding in storage or that they have just made. Though to complete the package include a fishing comp as well and Shearer could judge our photos if he would like to.
Havent really thought it through. Though I reckon it would be a blast over a few beers, good waves and great fish if you catch any.
Again I don't reckon many would be for it as the bluff is so far away from the east coast and we may not get many interested. Just a thought and a great way to meet a few people.
Bragging rights would be on the line (not that I would have anything to brag about with my stiff backed, slow to feet and inflexible surfing style).
Okay, maybe I should just forget and go catch a few waves there myself.

Where will you be staying? Just leave your boards on the point and walk from the camp, great warm up before a surf.

I'd love to go, but just the cost of petrol is more than an airfare to Indo, plus, there's no cheap mango smoothies, banana honey pancakes, beautiful semi-naked euro sex goddesses littering the beach, the daily fee's are more than the cost of an AC room, and who the fcuk is going to clean up my tent or van on a daily basis, do my washing and give me massages? And I'd have to put up with digger and MM reliving past glories and snaking me in the lineup

Well Digger , we haven't heard from you for awhile.
Told you not to buy that car, the wife and kid's took off in it didn't they? They've been waiting for a opportunity for a while now and you bought it for them, going from one hell hole to another looking for the perfect wave, it always ends in tears son.

Re: Red Bluff dreaming
Fished up there and at Garths. Grab some white bucktail jigs (sometimes also called marabou jigs) between quarter ounce and an ounce in weight. Reel em in fast for mackeral, tuna etc and jiggle them slow near the bottom for snapper, reef fish etc. Cheap and everything eats them up there. Can even hang one below a float and let wave action make them dance. Local tackle shops will have them, and beats keeping smelly bait in the food esky.

Re: Red Bluff dreaming
Thats good advice.
You can fish off the keyhole when it's tiny....lots of good nor-west snapper there.
