Re: Board Bags
try squid.net.au - their triple board bags will fit in 4 boards without fins and they're great value
Re: Board Bags
O&E triple board bag (fits four boards with FCS)
Re: Board Bags
I've got a four banger (O&E) and a 3 banger (Balin) that I am trying to get rid of for next to nix..Storage issues. I'm in Newcastle, PM for details. I'm actually coming down to Sydney airport tommorow.

Don was fixing the problem and hit "delete" instead of "save" at a critical point. Had to reload the whole forum so I guess it was from a back up.lessormore wrote:Seems quite a few posts disappeared .Even TrevG's thread on log-in problems is gone.
Beanpole
You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: Board Bags
that seems really frikken good! so you have fitted 4 boards plus all that other stuff in it no worries?http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWNX:IT
I just bought one of these, the 8 foot one for $210 delivered ($49 or something delivery costs- can pick up if you want, the're in NSW somewhere.
I just packed my boards, fit in two thin boards+ a thickish wide 5'10 fish with glass on keels, a thickish 6'6 more quad or a 6'9 banks gun (not sure which one ill take yet) with room for 6 quad sets of fins, legropes, a game rod and reel (in padded case), lots of lures and poppers (in padded case), two wetties (john and long arm spring) and scissors and stuff like that, with room for very thick foam padding on nose and tail areas.
All came to 31 kg, (have paid for extra aready).
Perhaps i should have gone the 7 foot coffin but at the time i didnt see one.
The bag itself seems very sturdy, strong wheels, dividers between boards, im glad its squared off rather than pointed, more room for shit.
Re: Board Bags
One thing you need to check when buying is the empty weight of the bag.
I have a Globe coffin that can probably fit 4 boards but I usually take 3.
The problem is it weighs a lot empty. So no matter how light I pack I always get an overweight charge. The wheels and protective base add a lot of weight.
Air Asia to Padang usually end up charging me the price of the air fare in overweight charges. They allow 15 kg sporting and 15 kg luggage, but you can't have them in the same bag. Absolute fuckwits! The plane doesn't care if the weight is in 1 bag or 2.
The lightest I managed with 3 boards was 25 kg.

The wave at Curl Curl is so good they had to name it twice

Re: Board Bags
they charge extra $100 US for the 4th board. period. nothing you can do about it in bali, its just their policy now.If its 26kg i might bring another daybag with booger and 5'11 but not sure what the charges at denpasar will be for more than 3 boards.
what i was thinking about doing was to just put all the boards in there, plus fins, leashes, wax etc.
and everything else in a carry on. heck all i need is a few pairs of boardies, toilet stuff and thats about it.

Different padding quality? The Creatures one has a stronger bag, not just the silver stuff, but the amount of material doesnt seem to be $40 worth.ajohnsen wrote:What is it with board bags? The difference between a $59.95 one and a $99.95 one seems minimal:
If you are buying have a look at the 'dangerous when wet' ones (http://www.dwwsurf.com/products.html / http://stores.ebay.com.au/Dangerous-Whe ... nnovations ) - Avoca based, excellent quality I reckon - 10mm padding available if you want some extra padding. They will make them for you if you dont like the colours available (eg you want blue instead of camo), just email. In between prices for the two you have mentioned.
Nothing to do with me, I just have one of their bags.

Re: Board Bags
Funny I was looking at bags recently.
Once you get over the cheapies which are fine for everyday travel
the step up seems to be closed cell foam lining. The same stuff they use for
camping mats and some yoga mats.
I got one that had 5mm foam that was supposed to be a day bag.
The travel model had 10mm.
I thought 5mm was enough for travel with a tough glassed board.
Cost around $100 for a single.
Cheapie would be fine for a tuflite with a bit of stuffing.
I have another really nifty double one that I got with a fish I bought second hand.
Its great. Took it to Bali last time with a different board. Don't know if I would actually buy one new though.
They aren't that cheap. With a lot of shortboards your bag is more of a longterm investment anyway.

Re: Board Bags
I'm going to get one from Crustt next time.
I bought a Surfaids (Byron Bay) 10mm travel cover last year. It's O.K but is a very tight fit on the board even though I gave them the board dims over the phone. Well made for the price. http://surfaids.com.au/ocart/index.php? ... ry&path=62
The big name covers are way overpriced.
