It's a herd mentality- easy enough to duck and weave.
My ducking and weaving has consisted of surfing from 6-7am at the latest.
Crowds are mental at the moment.

Surfed more baby food peelers.
My wife is in heaven - she loves perfect little peelers and it’s been day after day.

Well there is a spot with perfect 2-3 foot short boarding waves, but the hoardes are onto it.
6-6.30am is the window there.

Had a great weekend of surfing.
Some of the biggest bait balls I’ve ever seen added some piquancy to proceedings.
Ended up right in the middle of one the size of half a footy field on Sat.

Are the bait balls mainly pilchards?

Steve’s using his balls for bait these days. Shark at Lennox Point according to Dorsal.

Beautiful lefts on the 8ft single 3 days in a row now, only works for about 2 hours on the right tide but empty and a heap of fun.

What's your board, loof?
I'm looking for something in that range.

That’s getting into long board range.

Certainly not a criticism. Was more the “mid length” comment. And even then that wasn’t an attempted correction.
I wonder about that whole 7’6 - 9 ft range. Seems like a bit of a no man’s land.

I think the range makes more sense than the 9-10ft range for a lot of people and waves.
I can paddle well, and there's not much I can't catch on an 8'6 that I could on a 9'1".
I guess the same is true of a 7'6", so maybe I agree with you.
I'm 20+kgs lighter than loof so I'd be downsizing anyway.

7’6 always seems like a good size.
But, I’m actually wondering what a 8’2 would surf like for example.
But, I don’t see much difference between say a 7’2 and a 7’6 mid. Not like the difference between a 6’4 and a 6’6 short which can be so different in the same board.
Let us know what you decide.
