I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Rode the board on the right this morning. A couple of head high sets came through and it behaved perfectly in critical situations: almost airborne on the drop, hard critical bottom turn, no problems, into a little barrel, pumping for the exit, didn't have to think about the board at all.

Advertised as a high performance mid-length that'll take anything you can throw at it up to double overhead.

And thank god I'm starting to get some form after three years of mediocre crap on anything but mals.

Juries out on the other board, sometimes it just won't respond predictably, sometimes it does, always wondering if my back foot is in the right place.
The Tolhust Mid 6 is the performance version of the more sedate board you’ve got there.
Yeah I see. They are completely different boards though. My comment was from some experience but mainly from a detailed review I watched before I bought the board,

Mine is more like a mal than a mid length, nevertheless I'd ride it in anything in Bali.
Yeh looked at both Tholhurst closely. The board you’re riding looks nice in clips

I put a Cheyne Horan winged keel in my 7' Aloha today.

Wow! Very different. Sets were head high and breaking fast. What was instantly noticeable was on take-off the wings slowed down the drop giving me more time to get to my feet, and definitely not getting pitched as I was sort of glued to the wave. This was great for the usual drop was just too fast for me a lot of the time.

Next were the turns, they were sort of neutral easy left and right and nicely predictable, the fin gave the drive and the rails did the turns - smoother than the usual side fin domination.

Overall I liked it and am going to leave it in for a while. Position is about 6" from the tail.

Only four out so I clocked up quite a few waves in a three hour session.

My biggest bitch about it is that I can't duck dive it, otherwise it would be my favourite board.

Cranky taking age into consideration you are Kelly Slater with the breaks you surf. Duck dive, schumck dive.🥊

Ah not quite Thud, I'm finding it really hard to get back to short"ish" boards though after three long years of a torn rotator cuff, covid and riding longboards. Getting there now with reasonable, uncrowded surf.

Here's some footage of Cheyne riding a single fin. It looks really fun to me and such a different way of surfing.

Note, not a starfin.

To me it looks like every time he puts some weight into a turn he needs to correct himself.

Yeh, he, or at least the board couldn’t hold a continuous line/curve for long.

After months and months of endless offshore winds the onshores have reared their ugly heads, a whole week of them is predicted!

I've often found onshore predictions to be incorrect at this time of year, in that the actual prediction should be light and variable, but that doesn't seem to be part of the weather forecast vocabulary. I'll cross my fingers.

Yeah, did he ever on that clip. It might be the fin, I found my feet all over my board when I put the starfin in.

Hey I didn’t know that.

Yes I did

McCoy ruined it for him. Guy was/is an awesome surfer (just drove past the old McCoy site here)
