I haven’t seen it break right through for quite a while. Got my leg rope stuck in the rock shelf in there near the beach one time. Sounds great.

Had a bash on the foamy. Bit of fun in the corner in between thumping closeouts. Swell is dropping quick.

Don't know about that, on my drive home it was still solid 5ft + and firing. Can hear it shaking the ground right now!

Yeah still pretty solid this morning, some straight ones but some smokers, great fun.

There’s a dude way out to sea on an outer bank off Nth wall paddle surfing on his own.
Must be 500m+ straight off the middle of lighthouse beach.

Someone’s just paddling out now to join him.

On many nights a year I can hear waves all night. It's not the size, it's the lack of wind and ambient noise (i.e often small summer waves are enough).

Had a ball today. Paddled out in the crowd thinking maybe I could score a stray one if I sat wide. Then realised 75% had no hope of paddling onto the waves where they were sitting and I was on a mal. Even if they caught one they couldn’t plane through to the inside section from where they were but I could. Stoked. Cracker of a day. Waves up and down the beach.

Wyre-style I'm listening to waves constantly right now. It's about 0.5' shore dump but crystal clear on a still night.

Those small shore slappers seem to generate more of an epic night swell noise than actual big surf.

That's because they break in shallower water. But the sound doesn't travel as well due to the higher pitch.

Where I used to stay about 1km from the beach, some nights you could hear this thrilling deep wave rumble rolling across the land. This was just about always caused by the little slappers. The little slappers occur on still nights which partly explains the noise production.

Gragagan is the only place that I've listened to the surf during the night, apprehensive of what the morning would bring:

And no shit I lucked into the wave of the day, just after a gigantic set cleared the line-up
