I reckon that those channels do almost nothing to control the water flow but they reduce the volume of foam in the trail and make it easier to sink.
Combined with the hips it makes the board more manoeuvrable than you'd expect with that volume.

Chines are great.

Nose concaves hold very little interest for me because I don't noseride.
