Most board riders and peeps here ride CI or Pyzel
Just stirring. Who knows who the better shapers are.
Its because most surfers (despite their protests to the contrary) are sheep ... they see JJF riding a board, they want to be cool like him, so the buy Pyzel.
If I had the coin, I'd buy a Gunboat, just like John's ... that'd be even cooler.

I personally have liked CI short board boards. Most seem to cover a wide range of skill level. But, who knows.
BTW aren’t you a kneelo?

Reckon modern US shapers are better than Australian.
Better at marketing

And ?
Are you insinuating that being a kneeboarder exempts one from judgement on surf craft ?
I rode shortboards, longboards and a variety of surf craft long before my foray into kneeboarding a few years back ... so in essence I've spent more time surfing on my feet than my kneeling.
My boards are all custom, and I have a lot of input into their design (sometime negative) ... but over the years I've developed a very good understanding of fin placement, rail shape, rocker etc. I currently own 14 kneeboards, 4 longboards, a 7' DVS pin tail and a keel fin fish ... oh and an SUP.
Then there's fins, I have a collection of fins that would make Shearer weep with joy at the sight of them.

I was just answering your question ... that's how communication works a lot of the time.
But, I'm not for one moment not thinking it wasn't a veiled swipe

Nah, I’m not into “what you ride bro”. I’ve too many sad mates who hang on the latest HPSB and frankly look stupid on them.

Tomo
Saw a bloke on what looked like a Tomo the other day, turned out to be a Meyerhoffer Supernormal.
Dude was ripping, the board looked fun.

V2 Tomo was one of the best surfboards I ever had. Shit construction though. Hand-shaped and glassed in Australian. Bought it sight unseen from a RS poster who'd custom ordered it, took possession and immediately realised the volume was way too low for him

He made the customs crazy low volume.
seems like he is making more realistic dims now for people who aren't pro surfer level.

In the US?
I wonder if the short boards made for weaker east coast US swells are a little bulky and flatter and hence, twits like me in 100kilo up range like them in Australia as they seem easier to ride. E.g. my go to is a Fred Rubble. It’s the easiest short board Ive ridden with comparable volumes to others. Like I said I’ve no clues

Made in California, West Coast.
East coast is Florida.
(doesn't dismiss your premise though)
