Building the 'Hotkurl' 10'5"
Here are the three internal panels for the 10'5" Hotkurl. Three layers are used rather than the usual two, so that they can be made thinner, this allows them to be bent more easily to the required rocker and the bottom concave.
The central panel has frames and blocking running athwartships. Since the central panel is on the neutral axis, fore and aft orientation is not necessary for strength.

Hot Curl is a traditional finless surfboard type,I used it in a heretical fashion for this tunnel finned design

It all makes sense when you see the link here.
More coat tail marketing from the anti-industry reactionary.
There is an actual (respected) surfboard shaper in NZ building hot curls that look very functional by the way, name of Roger Hall.
Smorgasboarder magazine have featured the board in its pages.
Here's a link to his Hot curl boards

I'm just laughing because you had to cover your tracks (keeping with the snow shoe theme) and cut and paste your answer on a bunch of different forums.Roy_Stewart wrote:Boring sour puss, making spurious accusations... go and boil yerself ^^

You started off civil enough until you realised I posted the same link on four different forums.

Hot curls have been a popular item in underground circles for many years now.......as usual the mainstream is way behind....Roy_Stewart wrote:Here are the three internal panels for the 10'5" Hotkurl. I concur...looks like a good user friendly board for those who have an understanding of their non surfing pro abilities.Roy_Stewart wrote:It looks pretty good to me.reginald wrote:Cuttlefish wrote:It all makes sense when you see the link here.

Re: Building the 'Hotkurl' 10'5"
The board has no relationship to the Hot Curls which you are referring to, it's a favourite design of mine from 1998 which uses two fins, including my usual half pipe tunnel slave hydrofoil... I'm just using the name, with a slight spelling change.kayu wrote:Hot curls have been a popular item in underground circles for many years now.......as usual the mainstream is way behind....Roy_Stewart wrote:Here are the three internal panels for the 10'5" Hotkurl. Basically it's a more rockered version ( and the predecessor to) the 'Makaha' 12-9 and 10-9. It has the moderate single concave which the original had... we used to call it the 'Thrusterbuster'.
Re: Building the 'Hotkurl' 10'5"
I see Roy....yer basic "marketing hook" then ? .......I have done a few "real" hotcurls in recent years , and also more modern interpretations.........the shorter modern ones have been well recieved by those with an interest in surfing "finless"......Roy_Stewart wrote:The board has no relationship to the Hot Curls which you are referring to.kayu wrote:Hot curls have been a popular item in underground circles for many years now.......as usual the mainstream is way behind....Roy_Stewart wrote:Here are the three internal panels for the 10'5" Hotkurl.
