McCoy micro range-pot belly, stumpy and splinter

Post by betty boop » Sat Oct 11, 2008 10:05 pm

Anyone tried one of Geoff McCoy's newer small nuggets?

Or are you all too big and fat to fit on one?

I tried one of the demos of a 6'0 splinter (6'0 by 18 1/2 by 2 3/4); a McCoy version of a thruster, I suppose, with a narrower nose and less of that fat tail than a standard nugget.

It was fun, as expected, and much easier to handle and turn than my 6'4" nugget.

Love to hear if anyone else has had a ride or bought one.

i really enjoy mccoys designs

they don't work for me as i find them totally backfoot based

but i love his progressive nature 8)

indeed i rate him up their with s.a :!: a true pioneer

p.s chopping 4 inch off the nose is always gonna make a board easier :?

^^Fong, maybe you should chop off your front foot for a few surfs.

I found a Potbelly on ebay in victoria, but I am having so much hassle organising a courier that I think that I will give up.

Maybe I will still have to get me a fatbat from Pridmore. My Husband has allowed me to buy a surfboard, because he has just bought a new car.

About the new car. A Husband with a new toy is a happy Husband.

Not really boasting (it is a very small car), or complaining (I get a new surfboard out of the deal)

Maybe "gloating" is a better word. I like to gloat.

Hi Betty
I too have a McCoy 6'4" nugget...but rarely ride it. I have found it to be very fickle, don't know why. i have had some great rides on it, but 8 out of 10 sessions were very ordinary. I have had a miller 6'6" waterskate for a little over a year now and it is awesome! knee high to double overhead it has very seldom let me down. since i have had the Miller, i have stopped looking for alternatives. that's my 2 cents worth. cheers

I know Geoff is getting older but do we need to call him all those names. Boards are horses for courses that's my nugget on this. My kids call me gumnut based on my shape!

Jaffa, I'm opinionated, and I'm sometimes right. So?
