Re: Gary McNeill
It's amazing how much money you can spend on fins! I remember i had a potatonator for a while and i must have spent $400 on different fins for that board. They all worked. Some were better than others, but i kept buying and trying.Davros wrote:Surfed those Rasta quads on a new board today, enjoyed them, "flingy" turns.

I've got the rastas in my CV2 - they work great, so i'm trying to avoid the ol - 'wonder what these fins would feel like?' itch.
I'm far worse with quads than with thrusters for some reason.
Anyway - still got two more weeks of rehab until i can get back in the water. It's been a long two months already.

I used to do the same, try lots of different fins. Fun but yeah, expensive!.batoes wrote:It's amazing how much money you can spend on fins! I've finally settled on a few for now....for now.
Re: Gary McNeill
Thanks for the offer Davros - but i don't have a thruster at the moment! I had a huge board whoring year last year, but can't do it anymore - i sold my little online business and have no cash. I've got a really solid quiver with only a few wants for the future. The problem is time and consistency. I've got number 4 (child) on the way and the injuries have began to creep in (i know - i know - two months isn't that bad : )). Lucky i've got a few thicker boards for the recover and the onset of middle age.

No probs, I'm happy to swap fins with anyone on an honesty basis.
Number 4. Congrats. Better get some surfs in quick!!

4?! Jesus mate no mucking around!. Mate there's something about a good longer board. Easy paddling and entry and trim and glide are good for you now and then. At the risk of offending hardcore longboarders, the simplicity of flowing along with a wave is nice.
I seem to have the same amount of time as I used to but just don't surf near as often for some reason!

I agree - i grabbed a 6'6 hull down at the local surfstore in the village - made by a local guy. Super fun in anything from knee high to overhead. We've gotta go for a bonzer session when we're fit Beery.
Davros - i agree. Some fn swaps could save you $150! I have plenty of single fins - bonzers and greenoughs and others.

Re: Gary McNeill
what shape is the 8ft purcho? I had a 7'2 pin tail for good waves, loved it but never rode it...SOLD!
purcho - quartet (f*cking love this board)
2 x Psillakis quad fish (brand spanker, an all rounder, goes well in the 2 ft stuff but it will light up in decent 3-5ft)

Re: Gary McNeill
I think it's similar to his Blue Chateau model....
Pin tail, 22 wide, 2 3/4 thick..... got it as a small clean wave board but also had it out on 4-6ft point and it was great fun.....

Re: Gary McNeill
A must try fin combo for your CV2 if you're a big unit.
Twin fins in the front and DVS shark tooth side bites in the rears.
If you don't have the DVS fins then sb1 sidebites.
Twinnie drive and still loose in the tail with control.

Which twinny fins did you use Cuttlefish?
