Do you think collnarra was being a bit sarcastic?
I was playing silly buggers. That's what happens when you a) come home from after work drinks b) think "hmmm, let's have a look at the forums" and c) decide to post something.

Maybe a few less regarding a news story two weeks ago that mentioned new Chinese imports being sold on ebay with short boards going for $250 to $300, mini mals for around $300 and mals between $400 - $500.

Re news story - http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/imp ... 82434.html

Now currently the guy mentioned in the news story has 8 boards up each day for the next 4 days with bids on 4 boards due to go over the next 5 hrs (9.30pm tonight). The first to go is a mini mal last bid was $212.50 also a fish for $177.50 or a 6'6'' square tail for $180.00.

Interesting read that Johno, thanks for posting the link.

Although the subject of Chinese surfboards has been flogged to death over the last few years, it is unfortunate that our industry is under seige by imported products sold by a guy, from all places - South Granville, who is obviously in it for the quick money and doesn't give a stuff about how this money grab will, in one way or another put local hard working shapers under more presssure.

I'll take a board shaped by local craftsman, who has put their skill, experience and soul into their craft, which keeps jobs in Australia and also keeping the skill base growing here.

Keep the Australian Surfboard Industry afloat - buy Australian-Made.

I can't believe that I've never seen the guy's from M8R8 testing their boards on the Parramatta river at Sth granville every time the rivercat goes past. Awesome pearlers or is that waves at Sth Granville point. The thrill of standing on a fibreglass vessel gliding towards mecca powered by the swell is overwhelming

When your shaper moves, you gotta find him in Currumbin.

your supposed to put ya feet on the other side.......sorry but you must have known that was coming...
I think its pretty simple...if you like a certain shaper, ride his boards and if they work for you stick with them...every now and then ride some different shapes but its good to build a relationship with 1 shaper so you can get the best possible boards, the surfer/shaper relationship is definitely beneficial to getting consistently good boards that work for you ....did I just say the same thing twice twice ???
