Who owns a ski and wants a tow partner????
After having a go at this in bells im really really interested in exploring the posibilities around here. There are a couple of joints i know within a 5 min ski ride worth towing when its big but i have one problem, NO SKI!!!
One of my best mates is part owner in the company that supplies the sleds for the WCT aussie leg so i can help out with a good price on one. Have had a fair bit of experience paddling in when its big but im convinced theres so much more fun to be had towing, wave count soars along with the fun factor.
Even if u have a regular tow partner and they cant make it one day let me know!!!!!!!!!

you got a tow board or std board nbg. got a mate who's just got himself a ski with another bloke. the've been warming up at box h on small days tryin to get the whole thing sussed. i'm pretty pumped on gettin one but it wont be for a while. when i do, i reckon i'd be spending a bit of time watching grainger and his mates for a while before whippin into anythin.
apparently there's a shot of him on a tow board in a pit at deadies or winki. sounds pretty nuts.

Looking at getting a towboard of some description made. Warner who shapes my boards has a made a few for grainger and co and showed me one he was making. Very heavy but small. Has special inserts like snowboard binding holes to screw ur straps in. My mate in Vicco has just got hold of one of those hydrofoil boards as well and reckons its amazing, can ride open ocean swells without the aid of the ski!!!!!!! next time im down i will definitely be giving that a shot!!!!!!
Just have to get ur act sorted when its a bit smaller, controlling the ski in the wash being kinda difficult at times. Im like u, really keen on getting a ski but finances are a bit thin at the moment. Im really hanging to tow a spot i know that i have tried paddling afew times but not caught a whole lot. If u could be towed in the first barrel section would be amazing!!!!! If u come off though u might not get another go at it, ever. No problems with paddle surfers ever really. Only surfed it on a big south swell but with more east or even north it might be better.

hows it going. First post ever, thought i'd move beyond the voyuerism. Do you fellas know of or had any experience with towing in on inflatables? Seen a couple of blokes clownin around in small surf (3ft) on a thundercat, and its got me thinking of trying to kill 2 birds with one stone by having a rig to tow in on and to fish and dive off. i reckon a 40hp 2stroke minimum.
one of my mates has his own ski (hes 16) and we are always towing in out at butterbox southy and longy....you could pick a quite good one for 10000 or you can pay like 9 bucks a day for 40 monmths or something but if you go halves with a mate its absolutely nothing.. the ski's are one of the funnest things you can do with surfing it just opens up the possibilities so much more...never has a 2 foot close out been so much fun then on the big days it just helps so much more and makes it heaps more enjoyable

ya gotta admit a towing in a soft on conjures up images of slingshotting a tampon or powering up a teabag on a bungy cord. They'll probably have a crack at it but with the specialised heavier boards and straps I can't see it being really successful in tow in type surf.
Getting back to real surfing, you wouldn't have any more info on those hydrofoil boards in Aus? how much, performance and stuff. I've seen footage of Laird riding them and it looks like a brave new world.

No worries, probably got a humungus price tag anyway and I haven't even got me boat yet, but I'm pretty keen to go the Rigid inflatable option and am trying to convince the missus she should be as well (never did so much gardening since the last surf trip!). I can imagine hydrofoiling a substantial ocean swell would be totally farken awesome. Maybe the lids will be gluin em on best not go there any more, dont want to start payin out on soft targets, but the image of em towin in must of been a real cak.
hey guys, im in the same boat as northern beaches guy, since my mate with the ski hasnt taken it out in over a year.
