Looks like he makes a sweet MR twinny too.

Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
yeah, pretty much. I've had the board out a few times now and it looks and feels identical to an MR twin I've ridden before.
fucking great boards! so much fun.

Pointed my mate in the direction of this closet classic. Picked it up yesterday.
Been sitting in the new at the time padded board bag for 20 years.

There were a few people from our west coast who traditionally got boards from Gravelle, getting boards from Mick, just based on price. Mick’s boards were considered just as good.buddy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 8:23 amPointed my mate in the direction of this closet classic. Picked it up yesterday.

I like the fins and pulled tail.
I want Nightclub Dwight dead in his grave I want the nice-nice up in blazes
Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
Yes, he's one of the best. Still going and still uses bridges, textured decks, handmade fins and gloss finish coats. He's well travelled and a very good surfer so knows what's required in a board

They’re his ‘79 templates. The board shape, that is
Made a lot late 90s early 2000s with those fins.
Re: Twin fins as go-to boards
I had a 5’10 same design and era and it was loose af.
And my mate that bought this has a 6’10 as well and I reckon you could surf 8 foot bells and it would hold.
Shows what rail length does.

Pure twins have never worked for me backside- unless they are fishy or mid-lengths.
Add a little trailer fin and voila- magic.

Yeah I've seen O-dawg on that board at that wave.
He's surfing OK on it- seems a bit slow and draggy in the flesh and not quite suited to the turns he is trying to do on it.
That style of forward outline pulled tail twin at that length has a fair amount of mid-length vibe to it.

Yeah, it looked a lot longer- looked like a 6'6" when he was riding it.
he rode really shortboards in his last couple years on tour.
