You can maybe get a sense of it here:

Where the "wing" of the pad is is crushed in by the thickness of the pad, so ~3mm. And all the glass is cracked. I think I'm going to layup 2oz innegra/2oz glass patches on newies from now on. Or get used to buying several new boards a year.
The advantage of those carbon stripes is you can see the deck depressions a lot easier

I don’t reckon the carbon tail patches do much. Most seem to cover the rail and don’t go far enough over the deck to protect it.
