I used to ride a bodyboard full time and never got into the stand up side of surfing, but since i got back from tonga, i've been attempting to ride a surfboard. i got a 7"2 mini mal. 21' wide and 2 7/8' thick i think. i'm about 82kgs and 5'10 tall. should i have gone for something bigger. this morning the guys on the real long boards were getting heaps of waves in the lacklustre surf.

The first time i ever surfed i stood up, bottom turned, cutback and then continue until wave died where i pulled off. I was 5'4" and my board was 5'5". If you've got skills with reading waves and that stuff from bodyboarding then it aint so hard at all. Easier than bodyboard for sure.
