a Fish-Finger is a real possibility for the next traveller...have to ride this baby and see how she goes before I'd consider sending something similar out there... but to be honest, most people arent game or interested in trying them, just wonder if I'd get many keen tet pilots if I was to do a lessfin design....

I reckon you'd get heaps of interest - I for one am very interested in how different it'd be, but won't take a risk of shelling out for one before trying it.

this is a 6'6" step-up type board I did today...I like the planshape, actually like it all, just wish I had some waves to ride it in...



little surprised how many boards I am doing for Indo, Fiji and the Maldives at this time of year...I like it but it just makes me wanna go on hols again.....

Hey mark, i think it would be a challenge sending out a fish finger for a test board, but for people with a open mind I reckon they would give it a go for sure. I know that I would certainly like to try one in the future mark. The thing is mate, most people would never even think of trying a board like that as its not the COOL thing, the COOL thing is whatever kelly is riding.

So, sending out a fish finger would all be about educating the surfing people about different options that they would never ever try, some will really hate it a lot, others might be like the captian and it would blow their mind, I think its a awesome idea to send out a fish finger, its something that no one has ever done before and as long as the people who get the board understand why its the one you pick to travel all would be good.

I reckon try it mark.

kookster, I have always been a fan of a bit of extra volume ( well extra compared to what 80% of shapers think is sufficient, but then again, it depends on waves and surfers, but generally I suggest more foam than most )....the volume in the above board was left up to me, but I have made this customer 3 boards already and he does want it to perform in waves here as well as the Maldives so because of his 92-93 kg's and where it'll be used and in what size waves, I left a bit in it, but not too much, and rolled the rails so it'll suit the slightly bigger waves with a bit of push....sooo much easier to make a board for a guy who you've talked to extensively, or made a few previous sleds for.( or both ideally )..., you can make every design decision based on knowledge and facts....

thanks Digger, yeah, I know what you are saying but there's gotta be enough people interested to make it worth while to send it around, will see what happens over the next few weeks but its definitely under consideration and thanks for the suggestions.... plus do I really want heaps and heaps of people enjoying this surfing or should I be greedy and keep it all for meee.....

no probs mate, kinda wish it was for me, that'd mean I'd be off to some place with some solid hollow ones...but instead I am here shaping myself 2 new small wave sleds...which is all good, but I do enjoy shaping and fondling foam that is heading to some epic surf destination...

I have to admit, I'm always the only (semi) finless surfer in the water so theres a tiny market to be had for these boards so far. I'd understand if you didn't send one around, its an acquired and open minded taste!

you're right Captn, anyone been game to have a go on yours mate ? but sometimes have to say stuff the market, sometimes its about fun and tryin fresh stuff...and if more would try it, reckon that tiny market would grow a little, but definitely not for everyone....
