My missus had to have ankle bones fused due to arthritic pain. Ongoing problems still years later.
Actually just taken her to hospital to have surgery on her wrist after a fall last Friday.

All the best to missus pole, beans

You too, Legion. I had a fcuked big toe for a couple of years. Same back foot surfing thing, but it thankfully resolved without intervention. I was still surfing heaps at the time. Not so much last year or so due to the shoulder. Hoping for that to change in coming months

Yeah, I've got the big toe thing too. It gets stiff and sore, and its got a pronounced bend, but it still works OK

Does it involve sticking your stiff big toe with the pronounced bend into your tanned anus in some Yogi Kudo high range yoga manoeuvre?

Asking for a friend

*yogi kudo was the guy who put himself into a glass box on the first episode of Thats Incredible! hosted by that saucy mix Cathy Lee Crosby. And who could forget Fran Tartenton

I finally went and got an X-ray on my big toe- yep, moderate to advanced arthritis.

Fucked.

It’s been really bloody sore too. So, what are my options? It’s pretty much cooked, right?

Any ways to alleviate pain apart from anti inflammatories?

Since mine is painful the whole time I’m at work (wearing safety boots) I use an anti inflammatory called Meloxicam. It’s a once a day thing, stronger than Ibuprofen and much kinder on the gut. Ibuprofen will fcuk your gut up if not taken with food and will fcuk you up long term anyway. The only fix is to fuse the big toe joint, which has a very long recovery period but a good outcome

Thanks MM, I'll check it out. Fusing sounds gnarly but yeah, I can see how it would be good long-term.

Cheers

Your body will down regulate the pain signals in 2-5 years, just wait it out.*

My wife is on that Meloxicam.
Years of pain with nothing providing any relief until she got prescribed that.
Swears by it.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Well, if it's already moderate to advanced, it has already degenerated pretty damn well. I think there is something to this though, definitely noticed it with bulged disc, after doing weights as well mind you. But the pain signals definitely decreased.

Was* on meloxicam pre shoulder surgery. Can also fcuk with your gut so is taken with or immediately after food. Good though. I found it best to use pre any activity, but I did a meditation course which helped greatly for dealing with the pain. Seems trippy new age shit, but I'm a true believer

* Still have the occasional one for my osteoarthritic wrist

My wife has that in her ankle. She’s had it fused but still gives her grief. The ankle is a complex joint. Ankle swells up like a balloon sometimes. At the moment she can’t walk on uneven surfaces like sand for example. She’s using that stuff and thinking of having more surgery.
