Surfing Atlas .Com

Post by LONGINUS » Sat Sep 22, 2007 11:09 pm

Hey Crew,

Received a lot of interest over the last week from people seeking to be involved with this concept either as spot or photographic contribuotors - thanks for that and have included you all on the payroll, if you havent received feedback from your application at this stage please shoot me an email.

At the same time, we received a few items of feedback voicing valid concerns regarding the exploitation of 'secret' sites and the rights of 'locals'. I just wanted to go on record as stating that the aim of the site is not to unearth and publicise secret locations, moreover the intent is to provide an executive summary for the surf traveller on the specific area of interest - this will be supported by ongoing input from established and rising international surf photographers. Essentially, we are striving to provide the same level of information that you would be seeking from both a location and a surf guide for a particular area, the difference being that the information provided on this site will be free to all users. None of the locations listed will be beyond the scope of publically available surf guides. What differentiates the site however is the involvement we are supporting from local surfers in terms of their specific comments on their home spots, and the offer for them to promote their own surf related businesses.

We are still seeking the assistance of surfers with experience in surfing publically disclosed international surf sites - very happy to discuss bringing you onboard for engagement ASAP.

Regards

Adam Waldie

will you please just fuck off.

but before you do, answer me this:

given your prior blatant dishonesty here on these forums, how would any sensible surfer reading your above dribble believe you have any integrity?

Yeah we get it, your the tough guy you dont want to be a part if this so stop wasting bandwidth.

Calling me dishonest? You ever tried posting something in the classifieds? Thought not - you cant use your forum username, you have to create a new login. Upshot is this, you've been a member of the forums for a few months and made a bunch of one liner posts - check the site mechanics before you embaris yourself again.

As a new user, you wouldn't know this so just a heads up that a lot of schools allow their pupils to view realsurf so watch the language in the future.

Watto - got our email. I'm sorry mate, but based upon some of your previous posts I don't feel that you would be the best person to contribute to the site on a regular basis. We would welcome you as a contributor in the future when the site goes live however in December.

cheers

this is not an advertising website. if you really want to promote your deal, buy some adspace. if the classifieds aren't your thing, there are other options.

yes you are dishonest and i don't see how you can defend that. you posted ads and then pretended to be an exited job seeker in order to drum up interest.

if you were a genuine person you would have stated your intent as you later did. it reeks of opportunism. since you have trouble with your wordz, here's a definition of that long one:
The term "opportunism" is often used in a pejorative sense, mainly because it connotes the abandonment or compromising of political principles, if not formally, then in reality
given the character traits that you've displayed here, i shudder to think of what the product or book you are trying to develop will end up being. just another misinformed exploitation.

wanker.

Actually LONGINUS, wanto has been a member of these forums for quite a number of years.
His user had a slight malfunction this year, and had to be recreated. Hence the start date and low post count.
He is a well respected member of the Realsurf community. 8)

Wanto, don't get a BIG head over my last statement

Aw butts,

This thread was about to get so much more interesting as well before you bailed Wanto out.

While you are here though as a moderator, just wanted to clarify the intent of the "Check My Website" section of the forums. I noticed a photographer with some nice in water images has jumped in after me and publicised his own site - is this okay? Is this section designed to showcase only myspace works of art or is it a forum available for introducing more commercially orientated domains with appeal to the wider surfing community?

But of course, nothing beats vocabulary lessons from a guy that spells words as.... wordz... 10/10

Longinus,
You have posted your thread in the correct place. This was created specifically
for non-commercial and commercial posting of websites.

Sorry to say it, but three emails in 5 hours ( 4:25, 6:35 and 9:25pm today )... that'll pretty well trash any goodwill you might have built up via your marketing campaign.

One e-newsletter a week is plenty, and sending the same one twice does little to foster loyalty.

I'd also suggest you keep a close eye on your Adwords campaign - despite what Google tells you the whole shebang is easily defrauded ( check your web stats for bot activity, repeat visits of short duration, etc. etc. ). I learnt this lesson the hard way...

Otherwise, the concept is pretty good. Whether it makes a buck is a totally different story...
