Draino's. You are kidding aren't ya. It's not even a wave!!!!Squidlips wrote:in elwood. its driving me nuts being 1.2 hours from either coast grrrrr
but i surf either, surf coast, or peninsular depends which is better.
my fave spot (now your gonna laugh at me!) is DRAINOs !! (when bells is 6ft+)
i always get about 60 waves a sesh there.
I will have to get a realsurf sticker on the van or summin so you know whos i is.
Just messing with ya. Grew up surfing it as a kid. Can be pretty fun when there is some size I guess.
13th is my favourite spot in the area.

Hello everyone.
First time posting and thought this was as good a thread as any.
I'm based on the Mornington Peninsula. Regular breaks are usually Flinders and Pt Leo when the swell is good (which it has been lately)
Used to surf all the time at Gunnamatta and Rye but the pollution and sore throats and ears that follow it got to me in the end.
And I've never seen the bay break with decent waves. Ever!

Over last summer on the mid tide they were pretty good. (I only surf on weekends due to work though so weekday surfers may disagree)
Had a couple of great mornings in January with the left and right banks at the far carpark entrance working nicely with the rip in between to taxi out on.
But the pollution there has gotten worse, my advice is to stay away from the place.
Currently Westernport has been getting some huge swells. There have been a few 6 foot days at Pt Leo over the past month so well worth checking these breaks out first.

Hey where is "Drainos"? Just did a trip to Vicco, got to see Bells at 10' ( on the final day of the RCP ) and Winki at similar size. Impressive stuff and the locals had it wired but man, heavy when the bombs came through!
Also saw a nameless break working near where we stayed in Torquay that day Bells was huge. It was just North of Darian Rd ( i.e. in the direction of posso's ) and a good 4' and offshore... didn't even see it breaking on any other day!
Also some really nice waves in Torquay the day we left. Not too crowded either... but still the odd drop in!

so is Draino's the left that breaks further out ( near the Anzac carpark )?
my fav wave at torquay is when the swells up and straight, a right hander breaks out front of the clubhouse 50 metres in from the point and rolls through into a big beachie closeout halfway down the beach. perfect for airs.
thats the wave i always surf, no airs for me though lol (not yet anyway!)Deadbolt wrote: my fav wave at torquay is when the swells up and straight, a right hander breaks out front of the clubhouse 50 metres in from the point and rolls through into a big beachie closeout halfway down the beach. perfect for airs.
