in elwood. its driving me nuts being 1.2 hours from either coast grrrrr
but i surf either, surf coast, or peninsular depends which is better.
my fave spot (now your gonna laugh at me!) is DRAINOs !! (when bells is 6ft+)
i always get about 60 waves a sesh there.
I will have to get a realsurf sticker on the van or summin so you know whos i is. :D

Baahaahaaahaaa. Draino's. You are kidding aren't ya. It's not even a wave!!!!

Just messing with ya. Grew up surfing it as a kid. Can be pretty fun when there is some size I guess. Danger is better though when big. Miss the place. Been in Sydney for last 10 or so years. Spent the first 25 years of me life there. Although some of the shots I've seen lately suggest a crowd explosion. Any thoughts?

Gday guys,

I'm from the northern subs of melbourne, in Preston.
Which also put me just over an hour from the surf coast...
Would love it if i was closer...

So what are everyone else's favorite spots??

As i've just started out surfing properly at the start of the year, i mainly surf Jan Juc and 13th beach in ocean grove.

Cheers

i mainly just go to torquay, my girlfriends a beginner too and the waves there seem to suit both of us well when its 2-4 feet. is 13th beach any good? it looks like it might be a shorter drive from melbourne than torquay is

Actually wont be much quicker as the hwy goes to torcool.

13th can have good banks on its day. Not many when its large. Try around the surf club if ya want smaller fatter waves.

i know of a secret break in the bay. (do i hear laughter?!!!!)
ok, im gonna surf this place real soon, ive seen it work twice recently.
you need a strong SW blow (wind from mornington towards CBD) for approx 5 hours. this makes a waist to chest high wave at this spot. the wave starts to rise on the left hand side of a certain big pier. the take off zone is UNDER the pier, you need to drop, do a square bottom turn (to avoid pier legs that are covered in coral) and the mutant choppy wave rises and peels pretty god damn perfectly along a 25 metre sand bar inside a harbour, and then fades out into the deep channel of the harbour.

i know its mushroom season, but Im not seeing things !! ive been so close to running back home to get the mal on two occasions.

can you guess the location?
