All languages evolve constantly, gradually drawing in slang, colloquialisms, new or foreign words, and everyday abbreviations and expressions as they gain wider acceptance. There's nothing wrong with using such things in forums and other casual communications - that's the way it has always been. Even Shakespeare was guilty of using popular speech of his time.

It probably wouldn't be so good if English became totally corrupted though. Can you imagine the misunderstandings and problems there would be if some words meant different things to different people, or they didn't mean anything at all? Could be tricky. Still, it's pretty unlikely in my view.

ps - Bear, I'm guessing you don't teach English?!!

pps - "more fast" = quicker.

I have no problem with spell checkers.

One of the smartest people I know is a lawyer who also happens to be dyslexic. Without spell checker she would probably have seriously struggled in her chosen career....

I have decided I need to get an avatar.

p.s bear got it..so did most others...h.b. and wanto want special spell police sherif badges dooo we :x
WHAT IS ARCHAEOLOGY?!?! Mate it is the understanding of Ancient Cultures through looking at material objects. Basically Indiana Jones is an archaeologist although thats not how it works.. we dig the ground and try and find cool old sh*t and try to work out who what why and everything else about it.

As for the suss image, its three guys about to go onto a theatre stage, dressed as 'satyrs'.. these half goat half man creatures that are always horny and always party hard with the god Dionysus! The erections are costumes! This is from a south Italian pot in the Nicholson Museum!
That ends todays lessons boys and girls.... The next lesson: Ancient Pornography! YAY

Bloody hell, it's a site full of English Genii.

Fong, my professional advice is this: Do not try to make a virtue of linguistic incompetence. 'Cause it'll turn round and bite you in the arse.
