Here's their reginal summaries:
Consistent with long-term trends, the United States recorded the most unprovoked shark bites in 2021, with 47 confirmed cases. This is 42% higher than the 33 incidents that occurred in the U.S. in 2020. The 47 cases represent 64% of the worldwide total. This represents an increase from 2020 when 58% of the worldwide unprovoked bites occurred in the U.S.
Australia’s total of 12 unprovoked incidents was lower than the most recent five-year annual average of 16 incidents for the region. Six bites occurred in New South Wales, two of which were fatal. Four bites occurred in Western Australia, one of which was fatal. Single incidents occurred in Queensland and Victoria.
Brazil, New Zealand and South Africa all had three bites and one fatality each in 2021. New Caledonia reported two incidents, both of which were fatal. Single incidents occurred in Canada, Ecuador and St. Kitts and Nevis.

I mean regional, not national or global.
The risk profile is different Mid North Coast to North Coast NSW than it is in Victoria, for eg.
Risk profile is different in SW WA than it is in NW WA.

Also different swimming at a patrolled beach with smart bouys and shark nets compared to open ocean swimming in front of cliffs with a big drop off.

Drum lines in WA abandoned in WA nine months ago. Not a single white took the bait.

2 whites were caught.
But still that is woeful.
Lots of chatter that they used the wrong baits compared to east Coast where they are regularly caught on smart drumlines.
Would love to know what they used and whether the trial was set up to fail.

You forgot to throw in an Incorrect for effect there, Cranky. It would make you sound more authoritative.

Haha beany!
I saw something on TV last night (unfortunately didn't pay attention until it was almost too late), they were comparing various shark brains, the Great White's brain was miniscule, but with some part to do with identifying shapes quite different to other sharks, which may influence prey perception. All sorts of camouflage patterned wetsuits then followed
You up-to-date on this one Steve?

Predictive text which I had corrected. Actually Tom Gleisman is another Australian comedian rather than Tom Gleeson.
You do know who he is don’t you?
Probably not.

No worries. Wasn’t really directed to you anyway. Working Dog Team Member. You may have seen The Castle, Frontline, Hollow Men, Utopia, etc or probably not.

Interesting you should ask. I’m thinking of trying to interest my fellow Realsurfers in a little franchise operation I’m starting up. It’s Beanpoles Magic Beans. You get three beans for $150. You eat one, plant one and sell one. You even get a free pyramid shaped trellis to help your bean plant grow.
