I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Well there's your problem, whale or seal blubber would probably have been irresistible. They would have beelined there from kilometres away.

Would these SMART drum lines have stopped this death?

it's likely the events are too stochastic to produce any definitive answer.

Well I guess the larges stainless steel megaphone chained to the wooden railing at Huzzars is the last functioning component of the big SW safety net

It seems the random nature of some shark species makes it tough to predict a solid pattern of behaviour and hence why bother doing anything with drum lines etc.

We do now know the broad pattern is following the whale migration, fairly close to the coast, as the tag program and receivers has shown.

Nets have been used with indisputable success, with the obvious bycatch issue, a lot more smart drum lines is the answer IMO. A LOT more.
Putting a big flashing light on the receivers when pinged would make them a tad more useful. Don’t know too many people who look at the app. or twitter in the water

tagging data proves that.

That's partly a function of where the receivers are.
And maybe they only put satellite tags on the homebody sharks.
