Sally Fitz won in WA and Morgan C came second - not sure how catching only 3 waves against Medina (he caught 11 waves in the final) will get a win. It really was the forgotten contest.

Semis were classic. One heat with two rookies. One heat with two World Champs.
Morgan just gave Medina waves. Watched a bit for the second time and the number of decent waves he passes up in the first fifteen minutes is sad. Obviously hindsight is a wonderful thing.

A bit rich saying we missed Italo and Gabe in a surf off. It was just in the semis not the final.

May as well have been the final. Nobody else was in the same ballpark. As Corky Trump would say, "Sad".

Well, I always enjoy Kirra water shots. Being a SE Qlder, Kirra has been a surfing muse for a long time. Everytime I see film of good Kirra from the water, it evokes my whole memory vault of every time I’ve been out there and it’s firing. I’m back to being a wide-eyed teenager experiencing Kirra in the 70s. I can feel the water flow.

Also, I get a kick from seeing women doing serious focussed barrel riding. You don’t see much of that. I don’t know why.

I wouldn’t have put it up, except it is Steph at Kirra. In my mind, Steph at Kirra should be iconic, but it isn’t and there is little footage published of her surfing there.

Objectively she is approaching the end of her career. Still looks better on a wave than any other female surfer. Although I’m biased.
