Inside or outside the boardbag? They might fit inside my board bag which will reduce the packing time

Man, I used to wrap the tail and nose in bubble wrap plus put styrofoam between the fins pre fin plugs. Definitely go for the pool noodles.

Why keep going to that complete dump. I’m hearing those monkeys have had enough of whitey. Fair enough as well.

I'm staying in quiet, secluded and picturesque location for $16/night, just 200 metres from the Uluwatu cliffs. Four surfs in the first two days, great conditions with only a handful on the breaks I've being surfing . Food is great and cheap, plenty of good mates and friendly vibes in the water and the locals are also really friendly.

I smile and chat to everybody.

Just met my next door neighbour, she is drop dead absolutely gorgeous.

Thought I better see what my old mate Jim was up to. He has the best block of land in Uluwatu. I pulled up outside and so did a continuous column of the young and the beautiful. Women outnumbered men. I went with the flow and asked a guy I recognised where Jim was and what was happening.

Turns out Jim is in Lombok (you can guess where) and its his daughters birthday. Could have stayed but I would have been the oldest there by about 40 years.

Went to check the surf and there was a perfect shoulder high set peeling of mechanically along the reef edge, no one out!

The bukit is now what Kuta and Legian were in the late seventies and early eighties, only more so. At least a lot of them don't surf well.

Where we caught up is still pleasantly off the beaten track, Cranky. That was like 20 years ago.

I kicked off my Bali infatuation when my wife to be and I spent a year there (with other SE Asia excursions of course).

Our freestanding traditional Bali cottage was $4/night, a motorbike (not a scooter) $2.50/day, and a two dozen carton of Bintang was $12.

Those were the days.

Looks like there might be some swell ramping up next week. Hope it hangs in for next weekend. I will be on the road north.

I’ve had a few Legendary Surfers pics pop up on Facebook lately. Now yes a lot of the 70s crew did some legendary stuff but the degree of hagiography that some ofthe posters ooze is pretty fcuking cringeworthy. Yanks are pretty good at this of course. Doubly cringeworthy when the surf stars are Aussies.
