Re: Just general surfing stuff
worked out OK for the arvo surf in 3-5ft lefts.
I picked off 5 set waves on the end bowl from Russian beginners until I did a big hack and felt it really tweak out.
then paddled up to the deep lefts for one into the lagoon.
I think it will be OK tomorrow.

Supposed to be the biggest day today.
Pretty keen to surf the entire reef from one end to the other.

You mean Nusa Dua? Last time I was there I used the boat a couple of times, but last day I paddled out at the southern end and just went with the drift catching waves and ended up at the other end. Long paddle back to the beach.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Surf forecast is showing Nusa Dua at about 600kJ until Sunday then 1,300 kJ on Monday and 1,500kG on Wed

Surf-forecast hasn't really had much of a clue this week, to be honest.
I'm staying with one of the best Indo forecasters on the planet and he has been spot on every hour of every day.
I'm so glad I bought a 6'6" based on his calls, and not Surf-forecasts one.

I spend 99% of my surfing on the bukit west coast, only rarely on the east coast, so I don't know how correct Surf-forecast is where you are.

Well I am on the Bukit so it would seem logical they are the same calls.
Maybe Nusa Dua is such a swell magnet they haven't calibrated for it?

surfline Lol, when I was in Nusa Dua it was wrong season for it but morning winds were pretty good, anyhow, surfline were calling it 3-4ft, it looked 8ft from the resort - like over a km away and a bloke was getting towed in off a ski.steve shearer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 9:58 amWell I am on the Bukit so it would seem logical they are the same calls.

I don't think they apply any bathymetry at all, the ludicrous Perth forcastes being a prime example.steve shearer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 9:58 amWell I am on the Bukit so it would seem logical they are the same calls.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I remember Nusa Dua was out of my league being way overhead one day and everywhere else was about shoulder high. Surfed Green Balls.

Surfed the super shallow hollow left on the other side of the main Nusa Dua channel.
Didn't even know there was a wave there.
My hammy was good for 7 or 8 waves before it got too angry.
Then I walked home, along the long, long Nusa Dua beach back to Geger Temple.
FMD, non-surfing tourism just weirds me the fcuk out.
All those people just aimlessly lollygagging- how do you do that?
Took me about an hour to walk home.

Have to admit that Cranked's earlier claim that there were no Aussies on the Bukit is being vindicated by events.
I reckon it's 80% Russian, 19% Mixed Euro, 1% Aussie.

It's super weird that everyone isn't a surfer and shares the exact same perspective as yousteve shearer wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2024 2:22 pmFMD, non-surfing tourism just weirds me the fcuk out.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Let me be more general seeing as this gets your goat.
Non specific tourism.
MTB or mountain climbing or skiing or fishing would be of similar ilk to surfing in my general schema.
Just that aimless, lollygagging, do nothing type of tourism weirds me out.
I accept other people think very differently.
There were probably 5 or 6 people on the left this morning- none of whom could surf.
3 Russian chicks who were absolute beginners.
