A surfer has been seriously injured by a boat propeller at Palm Beach on the Goldy.

Bound to happen sooner or later there.

Yep it’s the Wild West at the Alley. I thought someone died a few years ago after getting hit by a boat there.

It's happened before. Pretty sure someone was killed there a few years back. (edit: what Jimmy said)

My old man was hit by a boat many years ago while snorkeling for crabs. He had an impact injury from the leading edge that caused a giant crater in his leg but didn't break the skin. He was lucky not to drown

Even back before I moved to Sydney, near misses were common there. Including one I saw by the air sea rescue boat which was just training. No emergency.
A bigger problem (well, more regular) was the fishermen on the rock casting straight into the crew in the water. One guy got caught through his ear and the fisherman refused to stop reeling his line in.
A bunch of us "convinced" him to leave.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

My brother used to paddle across the seaway all the time, I never liked the idea, way too busy and too many people who may very well be on the booze and once a year skippers. Eventually he started using the taxis but the cost adds up.

It was just a few years later. Many years later in fact.
And yes. He was advised to go fish somewhere else in future. Never saw him again.

Apart from a run of the mill helicopter crash and an every day boating mutilation did he survive anything dangerous?

He did have to live with the shame of his son joining the Qantas Club.

I think PP should write a book about this legend.

He has had a colourful life. The winch broke when he was underground and he and a couple of colleagues had to climb several hundred metres up a wet, vertical metal ladder.

He was in a car crash in Africa while working. The driver fell asleep and they went down an embankment and ended in water. He kicked out the window and pulled the driver out. The driver initially survived but later succumbed due to swallowing a bunch of water and engine fluids. Old man lost eyesight in one eye from that one. We couldn't find or contact him at the time. He was in some tiny bush hospital with no English.

Many other stories.

really fun Indo glass 3-4ft lefts at Geger this morning.

Unbelievably, we surfed it solo.

There were a few backpackers surfing right down the end bowl 200 metres away and people surfing the right.

No-one on the bowly overhead lefts.

I did not expect that.

Just back behind Nusa Dua.

Pretty cool.

Way rootsier than I anticipated.

Nice Bali feels.
