A very good piece by Nick on the Eddie. Lots of good photos. Keep scrolling down to pick up Nick’s sections of text. His photo captions are worth reading too.

Not a single thing about those waves and frozen sheep paddocks makes me feel like putting on a 5 mil wetsuit, gloves and booties.

I remember surfing Piha in the middle of winter. The car was saying air temp was 6 degrees outside, wind chill with the wind streaming down the valley was way worse. I pulled on the trusty 3/2 and paddled out, first duckdive was the only time I've ever had an icecream headache from surfing.

Showed the missus and Junior on the TV. Was told to turn that down and then get that off or I’m going upstairs

yeah fcuk cold water.

I guess the reason surf companies keep going there is because it's easy to get uncrowded waves.

We had a frost warning this morning and there's a freeze watch tonight, so it'll be below zero at water level.
The surf's actually looking ok tomorrow morning but fuck that.

Haven't seen a lot of people on the cams today, but the tide was also high before work and that kills local options.
