stayed up til 12.30 but it was dull, not many waves and alot of poor surfing for pros, Kai Otton was very bad, and some other so called rippers were very average indeed, waves must be tricky to surf...Parko and Adriano were stand outs from heats I saw....

I totally disgusted at the Rio Pro.

I think it was a terrible decision to run the comp there, the waves have been absolute shite. One turn and a second turn on a closeout section, 7.8 woopee!

If anyone has footage of the wave breaking well I'd be happy to give them some slack for bad luck, but man...

but even so , dont ya reckon the level of surfin has been pretty poor Captn ? Shouldnt pros be able to not fall so often even if the waves are average beachies ....maybe I just expect too much but if Kai Otton gets paid to do what he did yesterday, sign me up, coz even my sorry old arse can fall off on 80% of waves....

glad I didn't stay up for it.
From what I watched, Melling and CJ looked good.

It looked surprisingly similar to mid-tide Maroubra.

Just watched the highlights (lowlights?) on Fuel. Fast forwarded a lot of it. One or two quick moves on a fat, bumpy, backwashy closeout.

What a farken disgrace. Bring on NY, Ocean Beach and Manly. Can't wait.

Dropped in on a Brazilian by mistake the other day went to so say sorry but didn't just pretended he and his mates were invisible as they obviously think the same of others. Its really quire easy when you imagine something isnt there, they are on to something.

Anyway read this article it has to be a piss take, apologies if its done the rounds

I see they've got into the local spirit by claiming shitty airs and foam bounces.

On a side note, I appear to be perfectly (in)able to predict the surfers who will do well. For Bells I said Mick was rubbish. In the last round I said CJ and Melling looked good.

Any tipsters want to pair up and make some money? I'll publicly air my picks and then you bet on their opponent.

I was surfing curly today, 2ft fat two turn waves. I was getting excited, I could have been parko at the rio pro, two turns then a closeout or fat out in the channel. I though I was parko on fire or white lightning or whatever it's called

I'm glad theyre surfing absolute slop, I've never been so close to pro surfing in my life

Bobby is a good surfer, I often forget how good he is but he has a smooth fast style and surfs with flow, I reckon he is looking likely to get this comp....maybe him vs Parko.....

Suprise, suprise a Brazo wins in Brazil. Didn't watch it all but seems a bit of a close call against Owen Wright in the quarters but I suppose you get the home town advantage at times.
Bring on J-bay and hope for some decent waves, not close out crap like Brazil!
Go Joel!

Didn't take me long to get through all the finals videos... each package lasted about 39 seconds and consisted of a total of 7 turns.

I swear they just used the same footage of Taj over and over again in each... have a look yourselves and see if you can pick one wave of his from the next.

such a variation in judging from heat to heat. one heat, Taj gets a 9.6 ( i think, definitely 9. something ) for 3 decent backside snaps, 2 were pretty good, one snap was average....then Owen does a vert re-entry, little snappy cutty, then busts a slob air and gets a 6....??? then in same heat, Adriano gets an 8. something for 1 floater, it was a good floater but it was still a floater and the only move on the wave...hard to see how the judges scale their scores, and very easy to see how surfers get pissed off and confused.... Adriano was one of the best and most consistent surfers of the comp but the judging was all over the place....
