hard to say with the place being so fickle...would like to think Parko would get a result, would be a shame after such a good start....but Dane is ripping and riding some functional shapes for the waves too....but hoping for Parko or Mick, go the Aussies and Qlders.... 8)

Well it looks like they'll be surfing small beachies so there's a damn good chance the Cooly kids could do well.....or even Dane for that matter.

If they were surfing Mundaka then it would be a completely different ball game, IMO.

Surfline saying little to no swell for the first 5 days at this point.

Surfline Forecast (page 10)

I love the way they dress up the potential for a pulse in 5 days with the fancy map and big lettering to make it seem more interesting.

munch is mocking me because he thinks that my own version of pro-surfing fandom contradicts core pro-surfing fandom teachings (the teachings he follows to the letter) and is therefore inauthentic or at least unorthodox. but attempts to question the authenticity or orthodoxy of pro-surfing fandom on the internet strike me as a dead end. pro-surfing fandom is remarkable in its diversity, and there is no reason that diversity has to be hemmed in by geography or technology or emotion or memory or autographs or magazine collections or posters like the ones covering munch's bedroom, living room, hall, dunny and secret closet walls. similarly, the idea that one should dismiss as pro-surfing fans those who don't watch wct events live online strikes me as a refusal to engage with what is practiced on the ground. i don't watch much live online and i don't have posters on my dunny walls or autographs on my undies, but my veneration and worship of pro-surfing's idols are as passionate and as fervent and as profound as munch's.

Just watched an interview with Kekoa on the Mundaka event website and he says that Dane's been in Amsterdam between events.

If he makes it past round 2 they may need more than an IV :|

Lucky Al

The eloquence and passion of your reply, which enthralled and nearly drowned thy reader (through lack of commas) leads me to believe the only real winner of this competition, will be surfing, if you continue to expose the dangers and pitfalls of fandom - thankyou Al, thankyou very much

p.s it's not a very uncommon guess, but I think a right foot forward will win, if most of the event and the finals are held at the river mouth - kai I'm not sure about so maybe ace will be the winner (other than surfing)
p.p.s I'm already a winner

I wouldn't be discounting Parko. He's one of the select few Cooly kids that can still do a mean backhand, particular when it comes to backhand barrels at Mundaka.

Let's hope the forecasts are right and they get to complete the event in some favourable waves at the reverse superbank towards the end of the waiting period......otherwise it'll be off to some crappy beachie where god knows who might take down the comp
