Quite quiet.

I’ve never heard Avoca referred to as “trendy”. You just made my day.

Re: excellent for beginners. It’s horrible for beginners, it’s a fucking close out most of the time on the beach and the point is ok I guess. Not like your Terrigal though, lol.

Early go out at north Maroubra. Shapely and fun to carve up.

Fuck. My local was showing less than a metre on the nearest wave buoy overnight. Low tide at 7am. I rocked up about 5.30 on my way to find a beachie somewhere.
Chest to head high 3 and 4 wave sets peeling through, groomed with a gentle offshore breeze.
For nearly an hour just me, a Canadian guy who now lives here and has the management rights to one of the local unit blocks and a guy on a clubby rescue ski.
I stayed out for just over 3 hours. Never got overly crowded and was still working after coffee around 11.30am.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Curious to know what would your wave count be over that 3 hours ?

12 or 13 in the first hour.
Less after that but maybe 8 or 10 an hour.
That has more to do with a slight increase in numbers though.
I actually find I struggle more in the first half hour of a session until I get my second wind.
All rides in excess of 100 metres. Surprisingly long rides for such a small swell.
Admittedly a higher wave count than I get in larger surf.

Do you have to paddle back out after the rides or can you do the run around and jump off at the point ?

On some days you can do the run around. But on those days, rides from out the back to the beach are probably around 400 to 500 metres taking turns into account.
You don't jump off at the point. There's a keyhole inside the point but outside the main break.
The point is separate, very hollow and fast. But a lot shorter.

That was a very efficient surf.
Out of the car at 6.55pm, run up the point, quick rock off, got 4 lengthy point rides. 4th one well past the hut so came in. Back to the car 7.25.

Is there someone covered up on the inside?
Never noticed that before.
