Crikey, Sunday looks like a good day to get wet. WNW winds, chunky SE swell.

Out of iso to check the surf, it's pretty huge. Possibly 10 foot.... even ManTown looks pretty good albeit smaller

Watched the point for a captivating, enjoyable 45 mins chatting to a few crew, the wind was intense, low tide and the surf was probably around 6ft with 8ft sets.

I managed to catch a dumb wave yesterday on the high tide, right over the shelf which formed up nicely- unfortunately it formed up over about 10cm of water with rocks. I'm no Mason Ho, that's for sure. My right foot smashed into an outcrop, leaving me with what I thought was a broken little toe, but it is just very, very bruised. Anyway, no surf for this limping hobbit.

Then this guy, older, started down to the sheds- he had on a crazy full michelin man wetsuit, like all this floatation around the thighs, chest and upper arms with a 9ft Hawaiian gun.

"hmmm, a little bit OTT" was the general vibe. Instead of rocking off (which was definitely the best option at the tide) he started out at the sheds and proceeded to get a flailing as he slowly ballooned his way out the back. and then got absolutely nothing.

Anyway, it was nice to see Loofy giving it a go.

Offshore and huge. Big swells belting into Bronte and Bondi. Saw one guy run the length of Bondi with his board. Tried to paddle out in the corner and looked like he was going to get chucked into the kiddies pool. Nielsen Park smashing into the half demolished beach steps.

Just got in, thankfully. By far the biggest conditions I’ve been out in for some time.

Attempted a paddle out at Cronulla point. Paddled out as the rock off looked diabolical, no thanks.

Got about half way out, only to get steamrolled by a set, then spat sideways like an air hockey puck. Drifted wide and ended up out front of the wall, not quite at Elouera.

Giant and jumbled. So much water moving. Managed to claw into one, ran it for a few seconds before it shut down.

Came in while I could, in once piece. Time permitting, would’ve been the day for a road trip. That was hectic!

Three guys out at Ben Buckler this arvo. One paddled out while we watched. Had a semi midlength thingy that didn’t look like a good idea at double overhead size. Got flogged but eventually got out. One of the other two snapped his board and had to swim in. Bumpy and cross shore.

Lachie rombouts was out there the day I surfed it. Must’ve been 9 or 10 years ago. He was a lunatic pulling into anything and everything. Most of the time he was getting absolutely drilled but made it out of a couple. You just don’t know what’s going to happen after you take off, it’s so random. The risk far outweighs the reward, you could get seriously fked up out there.

A few solid peaky lefts down the south end of Bondi. Rippy and showing a bit of promise banks wise. A few people got flogged trying get out while I watched. Out of my league at the moment plus water looks suss.
