I never used to give it a thought even when they shut beaches down for it but now I can’t get it out of my mind. Few of the reefs, the paddle outs get me a bit spooked

Not a single surfer has been killed by a shark in Indonesia, nor has there been any serious injuries.

:-D-:

Hey mate, joined forum at 14 years old living in Fairfield with a holiday house at Nelson bay. 34 years old now with a family, don’t get to surf much which matches my childhood living in western Sydney. Try my best to get a surf in every now and again will try and be more

Some pretty gnarly injuries to hands at that certain rivermouth break in Bali. The locals have actively 'discouraged' talk about the last few attacks, there's been more than you'll find on social media. Not good for business.

I spent a few days at Balian a few years ago during the wet season, Christmas time, there were small sharks jumping out of the muddy water right in the line up, often.

River mouths and estuaries belong to the Bull sharks. So yeah, quite a few attacks there, lots of stitches, but no permanent damage as far as I know.

There's been a few with pretty significant internal damage to their hands.

It’s a bit spooky out there when you’re over on the right early in the morning. At least the left goes towards the beach rather than across the river mouth.
A mate got seriously ill from swallowing some of the foam after he got smashed by a set and came up for air one time.

PL is very small in geographical area. Also would expect state and fed government to have the final call. Endangered species and all which is increasingly questionable

Be a Fisheries decision (state) surely?

Perhaps, but who ultimately would have the call to culling a (recognised) endangered species? I'd imagine acts of parliament(s) would be required

I think Fisheries can apply for exemptions- as they have done in WA.

As anybody ever been able to identify and track down the specific great white involved in a deadly attack? Plenty have tried. The vote sounds like political theatrics to me.
