Yes, unfortunately not on the cards. I agree there has never been a time to go since 1966.Nick Carroll wrote: ↑Sun Nov 01, 2020 5:02 amoh and polebean if there ever was a time to go to Crescent Head (and I'm not saying there ever was beyond about 1966), nows the fuschia time cobber.

A few friends went up there around 1966 and never came back. The rest went to Byron and surrounds. About 10 in all.
Me? I think the Bukit is way better, but not for your kids though. I'm still trying to talk Mrs Cranked into it. The frustrating thing is I'm pretty sure she would enjoy it more than anywhere in Oz. Its still a tight little enclave of long standing expats from all over the world with mutual support and friendship with the local Balinese.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
A few fun tiddlers at the Bra. Nice conditions for over there but a bit crowded.
Yeah, Mid North Coast was always the poor cousin to home when I was growing up.
Had my first real surf trip down there after the HSC with a couple of mates.
Crescent was pretty crap actually but Angourie was going off the day before and The Pass on the way back.
There have actually been a lot of old surf identities that have set up camp on the Mid North Coast over the years.
Usually camped there or Laureton going up or down when I was at College in Newcastle. Sometimes Sawtell.

Yep, 100%. No idea why anyone would even try surfing in that stretch between Newcastle and Byron

Crap surf at The Bra. Junior enjoyed himself however. Even managed to take off inside me on one of the only potential good waves I looked like catching. Planning revenge for later today.
