Yes ( to the first question).

Purely my opinion, but I love longboarding and really appreciate doing it and witnessing it.

Just seems not at all suited to being broadcast as a sport.

To the second question- a global audience of about 1700 on the Youtube stream and less than a hundred people on the beach watching.

Mal comp in small peeling waves is infinitely more watchable than hpsboard comps.

I disagree completely, if the waves are good ie 6ft+ Jbay, 8ft Fiji, Pipe, chopes.
Unfortunately it hasn't come together much of late.

I meant in the same conditions. Mal riding comp at Chopes would be entertaining though.
Bonga Perkins used to surf Pipe good on a mal.

Those little YouTube videos are good. Saw the one on EPS vs PU. He reckoned one factor was that EPS Boards stop immediately when you stop paddling due to lightness.

Sure. He just means there’s no inherent momentum in EPS I think.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

It's not often I agree with cranked on issues of physics, but this is an exception.

Where surfing is concerned, momentum used to be generational ...

Fair enough.

I was watching something on Jensen Taylor who is marketing a longboard that you can ride like a short board. It was impressive to watch but, impractical when you could do the same manoeuvres on a shorter board. There was a section when he said something along the lines of people pouring scorn on high performance long board surfing as a more traditional style is not in vogue.

And on that point, yeh I get why you’d question covering the longboard comp. It’s great to watch skilled long boarders live and Freeform and frankly not many people are very good at it.

I hate watching long boarding that tries to emulate shortboarding.

completely retarded IMO.

Mate, there's heaps of highly skilled longboarders up here.

way, way easier to get highly skilled on a LB vs a HPSB.

Lot of good long-boarders in Santa Cruz.

I'm not one of them

I just tuned in and was bored after 30 seconds.

Take off, run to nose for hang 5 or 10, run back, cut back to source and nose ride again. Rinse and repeat until wave closes out.

Generally bad but something that had to be adjusted for and saw the light weight as a potential advantage in really short boards on really small waves. Said he usually shaped EPS a bit thinner as they are more buoyant.
