I know I know

Never needing to get a real job is incredibly distressing.

Seriously, was she forced by her father down the pro surf path?

That’s a highly unusual take Al. This seems to be from a dating point of view based on how they surf?

Just had a few beers and started drafting a script to pitch to the WSL for next season Beans. Probably delete tomorrow.

Penny for your thoughts, Steve

She's a bit of a nut-job who imagines that she's some kind of hero to the downtrodden and marginalised ... oh and pretending that she doesn't really care about winning, yeah right wright. Comes across as a rather unintelligent self absorbed spoiled brat, living in an alternate reality.

Say What?
A pushy sports coach parent?
That could never happen in surfing, surely.

Very funny.

The Wrights are very wealthy. Culburra has fuck all bar a bit of surf, a bit of houso vibe and not much else. She went to a the local Catholic private school in Nowra not exactly Nowra high (probably one of the toughest pubo schools in Australia). To be frank she’d have had the usual unremarkable upbringing if surfing hadn’t opened all these doors and lined her pockets.

Too many blame others for their issues.

She should shut the fuck up and grow the fuck up.

She eats a bit of pussy, big deal.

In regards to surfing being a white male dominated corporate lizard. Yeah, probably however, I’ve never seen a sport in which women willingly exploit their femininity to the extreme for sponsorship dollars. Wasn’t always the way. If she wants to go all bulldyke fanny fisting man hater then quit or hush child.

Tyler’s on her own little trip.
I’m not that interested in it but it doesn’t bother me either.
I think some of her points are valid and some she is over analysing things looking for problems that aren’t there.

I was being a bit candid.

However, my point about the nasty psychological torture at the hands of her now demented father (making her surf while paying for private schools etc) is more than over analysis. She’s immature and a little entitled.

Pauline Mencer says Hi.
I think Jack Robo had a bit to say about over pushy Surf parents…..as does Raglan Surf Report.

Like

“I predict Carissa. Steph may follow suit….”

It’s a good comparison though. In that 2 years since inking those words Carissa Moore and Steph have excelled not only in their chosen sport but, taken professionalism to the next level. While Tyler is on a path of redemption heavily beset with a vindictive tone. She’s losing it and presenting it bone raw through a cracked prism. She’s in free fall. I worry for her.

It's an interesting position for her to take that she would have preferred sitting in a classroom learning Shakespeare over travelling the world surfing.

Again, she could step off the tour and the sponsor gravy train and get a job if she is concerned by it all.

Seems a bit hypocritical for her to criticise her upbringing, her circumstances yet continue to participate in it all.

Might be the elite athlete losing the edge. Got to blame someone.

There was article in Tracks or possibly SW years ago on the family. The old man just seemed like the typical coastal hard head surfer hell bent on the kids being good surfers. There’s plenty a parent like that in all sports.
