No current means no sand transportation which means no bank. Gotta pay to play, paddle to stay in place.
this.
at burleigh i used to paddle straight back out the horizon after a wave and then paddle parrarell (to land, drawing a right angle) back up the point (towards sharkies) until i hit the bank. once you're back on the bank (or really, within about 10-20 metres of it), it's a fast old conveyor belt ride back to the north.
lets face it, if the rip wasn't running hard, nobody would ever get a wave. the rip makes for natural selection.

Hey Trev. Anyway, what do you reckon, bigger today? Hard to tell with low tide. Kinda washing through more now...

If you catch a wave or not, you will eventually end up back to shore and generally you will be doing the walk around. You need the rest.
Or if your old and in semi fit shape 80% power to stay in position and then total meltdown to up it as the wave approaches.
Paddled wide a fair bit at Burleigh when I surfed it at Xmas. Thought Currumbin would be a cruiser option but the rip was crazy. Alway compare Currumbin to The Pass at the start. Had more waves at Snapper actually that trip since the rip was easier. Seriously envious of this run of swell. Although that footage on Coastalwatch of the crowds was insane.

Of course.
Can you do a point by point summary with diagrams that include paddling paths and useful intersecting lineup points. Versions for various swell sizes, winds and tides would be useful too.
Thanks

Pretty thick but washy head and half high lefthand beachies not too far south of Sydney. Checked some of the reefs and points but they weren't really doing much.
