Boards with 10 fins

Post by chrisb » Wed May 20, 2015 7:24 pm

Today's Manly Daily has photos of a Dee Why guy (zigfin.com) who has designed a board with 10 "microfins", about half the size of standard fins. He claims increased manoeuvrability, speed and stability.

The first two are intuitive but I would expect the board to be "looser" in handling.

Then again the only way to find out is to try one. It does look interesting. Maybe my next board.

Anyone on Realsurf tried them?

If 4 fins are good, then more must be better!

Chris, mate it seems that it is a normal 5 fin set up, the guy just put single tab smaller fins in each plug.

what I would like to know is why the Manly Daily ran such a massive commercial plug for the thing.

It was incredible, "riding a wave of success" etc, then explicit instructions on how to buy it, where to go, online, etc

what was that all about?

What's the difference between Elizabeth Warren & Kamala Harris?

Well-placed comment coming hot on the heels of a photo of a surfer who acquired a temporary new arsehole after a misadventure a few years back.

Imagine a set-up with 10 of Roy's cheese graters! I bet that board would have to be worth $2m.

Lots of tiny fins does make some sense, i'm not going there though, not this week anyway.
